I actually run up Main street on my route here in downtown los angeles, which is pretty much the street that borders skid row on the west here. I've never had the urge to carry anything at all.

It'd be nice to have one to fake out/scare the people who shit and piss in the middle of the sidewalk right in front of you. Although one time I did trip over a homeless dude splayed out on the sidewalk (it was pitch dark), and he got mad at ME.

No need. Carry two deadly fisticuffs and Im nuttier than 99% of people. Better be a couple of dudes or some guy would have a really bad day.

Why do you feel the need to carry while jogging?

Why do you feel the need to carry insurance on your vehicle?
Why do you feel the need to carry medical insurance?
It's there in the very very very unlikely event that I'll need it.
It's there so that I have the option to defend myself with it.

Concealed carry changes many habits in daily life. To be consistent, I carry everywhere I go - where legal, of course.
I'd rather have it and not need it than not have it and need it.

OP: I carry a Ruger LCP in a pocket holster.
Lightweight, doesn't bounce around.

I do, but mostly because I have good chance of running into a mountain lion living out in the sticks, and I do not want to miss an opportunity to get my seventh cougar rug.

By law, I need to have insurance on my vehicle.
Medical insurance I use. Odds are higher that I'm going to be hit by lightning than need a gun while jogging.

Defend yourself while jogging? Sad to hear. Are you a woman? Or did you lose your man card somewhere?

Funny how you're asking if he lost his man card when you're the one willing to lay down and accept whatever comes your way.

That, or perhaps your fists are registered weapons and are none other than Chuck Norris or a reincarnated Bruce Lee?

All you fools have to run in tight tight spandex or something, I can't even stand my keys in my pocket when I'm out running, much less a glock.

Also not running in the ghetto improves your rates of survival much better than a loaded 9mm on your ankle.

Realistically, I carry my flashlight (fenix tk-10) and a bottle of pepper spray/mace (sabre defense red 3-in-1 oc, cs and a uv dye). They also serve a secondary function as arm weights for a better workout.

I think your approach to self defense while running is sound, but I doubt you burn anymore calories from holding a flashlight and a few ounces of mace.

You're the one that doesn't feel the need to defend himself if need be.

So in your estimated opinion, are only women allowed to defend themselves with firearms? Have I got your opinion pegged, or would you like to reformulate?

Why does it bother you so much that people carry firearms?
Does my carrying during jogging in any way affect your life?
If the answer is no - as I presume it is - why do you care so much?

To answer your implied question why I carry while jogging: Because I can. Suck it.

Can you provide me a link to when a man was assaulted or needed a gun while jogging?

I don't care if you carry when jogging. I'm just commenting that your paranoia is sad. Do you also carry a gas mask with you too? You never know when you might come across anthrax or nerve gas when you go jogging.

It figures that any link not fitting your ideas would be ridiculed.

http://www.nytimes.com/1989/04...rs.html?pagewanted=all
http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-3941859.html

I'm sure you have something funny to say about these, too.
You realize, of course, that any of these stories can be found very easily with a simple google search.

You obviously have the bigger epeen and a far superior opinion on self defense, so I am out of here.
Excuse me for minding my own business. You should try it sometime.

Too bad, it's practically impossible to carry a concealed weapon in NYC where those events happened.

Do you take a lightning rod with you when you go jogging? The odds are higher that you'll get hit by lightning.

It's sad you live in a place where you feel the need to carry a weapon.

I was attacked by a large dog. I had to kick it in the face multiple times to get it to leave me alone and suffered some bad bites. The dog had to be captured and put down as the owner couldn't be found. If I had my pistol on me at the time. I would not of been bitten nearly as much and the police/animal control wouldn't of had to spend their time hunting for a dog to make sure I didn't have rabies.

Are you jogging in Mogadishu? Otherwise just go for a run, damn. If I lived anywhere I felt so dangerous that it was worth the hassle to run with a gun I would instead buy a treadmill.

You could get dog spray or something and although it's as much as a hassle to carry as a small gun you will GUARANTEED have less hassle by cops or anybody else if you use it.

You guys can carry pepper spray, unless you get off on the thought of killing other people's dogs.
