This summer, like last summer, I'm working for the penny-stock company, Lucent Technologies! (aka "We Love SpinOffs!". Last summer I set up networks and tested units for their now-defunct XWD project (stationary wireless Internet access for non-wired countries like Argentina and even a good part of China). This summer I'm working with MATLAB simulations for that FCC law that mandates you must be able to locate a mobile user if he dials 911 (by October of this year I believe). High-level simulations, fun stuff.. Went from working on hardware to being a code monkey. At least I don't have any long-term ties with this company (employee stock options? No thanks!) even though they seem to love my company.
