Oh and water doesn't counteract high salt intake potassium does. Potatoes are high in potassium and would be way healthier to eat, even if its a simple carb its better than that processed bullshit.

I mean in the U.S, college students can qualify for food stamps if hey work 20 hours a week. I don't get why they would have to resort to eating ramen.

I sure hope they eat some fruit as well. Would be weird to see something like scurvy rise up under students.
A disease most common with sailors in the middle ages up to the 20th century.

Hey now... I like Ramen noodles! I still eat them now, even though I have one of those 100K a year tech jobs that all good ATOT members claim to have.

This thread is making me hungry for some Mr. Noodles. Have not had that in so long. I tend to avoid it as it's not healthy but it's not any worse than all the time I get take out because I don't feel like making something. Might load up on some next time I'm at the groceries.

Because they used to cost $.23 a pack and you could cook them in a microwave in a couple minutes? It was the ultimate comination of dirt cheap, easy to prepare sustenance. You literally could eat 1/3 of your meals for under $2 a week.

If you have a fast metabolism and don't worry about getting fat, would ramen actually be alright to eat everyday? Any health problems if you drink a lot of water?
Its just carbohydrates and salt so if you just eat that it would be pretty bad for you fairly quickly.
Also its a lot of salt so if you're going to eat it regularly cut down on the flavour sachets that come with it, but that does remove the main plus of eating it!

Why do you ask so many stupid questions?

All questions you could google. And how many of your friends who work 20 hrs are on food stamps? I'm guessing none. And how many students actually work 20 hrs a week? Not many.

Can't read the ingredients on a ramen package? How much sodium? How much sodium should you have a day? How much nutrition is there?

Another benefit is the lack of a need to wash dishes or have a prep area. My dorm barely had desks, much less somewhere to prepare food. We did have a tiny sink, so we would wash our plastic forks and spoons.

Not many people who are working 20 hours a week are getting food stamps?

Not many students work 20 hours a week?

You can't be fucking serious. Wrong on both counts. Very wrong.

I don't know very many people in college, especially today, who just go to school without working. I went to college in the late 90s back when scholarships flowed like wine - I think in Mississippi you just needed a 28 on the ACT and you could go to any state school for free. These days it seems like everyone in school is working full time. I'm starting school again in January and I've got a full-time (often more) career. My adviser told me to take off work to write my thesis though. Slacker.

College student here and in no shape and form do I eat ramen. All my roommates cook their own food. I eat mostly grill chicken breasts, 500ml milk, 3 eggs, and a salad(romaine lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, carrots, squash) dressed in slightly sweetened rice vinegar.

Two oranges are eaten for dessert.

As you can see, we eat freakin healthy, healthier than many Americans I say.

Before college, I used to eat a lot of fast food and overweight. After college, my diet made me lose 40 pounds worth of weight in just one semester.

The key is don’t LET your parents OR restaurants cook for you AND don’t buy prepackage/precooked/processed food like ramen and chips.

Tip. milk is very cheap protein. One gallon of milk from Walmart is just $1.50. That is less than 0.5 cents per gram of protein yo. Don’t buy those stupid protein powder. Drink an entire gallon of milk a day and you get $10 worth of protein powder in just $1.50 worth of milk already.

I was in the grocery store the other day, passed through the ramen section and said "what the hell". Dinner tonight will be:

Average price across the US seems to be well over double that, $3.30. Here on the Gulf Coast it is about $3.75 as far as I can remember.
Odd, I got the value fat free galleon that costs just over one buck I recalled.

I am working 24 hours a week while attending college and 74 hours a week while on winter break right now. Having upper middle income class parents that pay for all your stuff is not a luxury many undergraduate students have.

For when you wake up hungry in the middle of the night, want something inexpensive and quick, and you don't want to go all the way downstairs to the kitchen.

I think you're about a decade younger than me but when I was in college (late 80s), they routinely went on sale at Publix at 10 for $1. My roommates would get 50 packs at a time but I was more of a mac and cheese guy (4 for $1 for the store brand plus margarine and sometimes milk). I had a fryer too and we'd grate up a 10 pound bag of potatoes into latkes on Sunday mornings and half our dorm floor would come eat with us.

Yeah it may have been closer to $.10 a pack if you bought the 10/12 packs at the grocery store. Don't really remember. I was in college in the mid 90's.

How lazy can you be???

What I don't really get is why you wouldn't just title your video "How to make ramen with hot tap water"? Why make it about cooking food in your bathroom? If you're going to film it the bathroom, why use the spigot in the bathtub and not the sink three feet away?
