Where in the USA is Be Quiet?

:frown:But I can't find anywhere in the CONUS to buy one - a few places offer the Straight Power models, and Bgears offers straight power models under their name - but searching the Dark Power Pro draws a blank. Anybody know where I can get one, and if my only source is overseas - like the UK, how does one order something from there and is shipping outrageous?

BeQuiet is a European company, so they don't have much presense here in the U.S.

Why is it so important that this next PSU of yours is a BeQuiet brand?

Good as they may be, you do realize that they're not a manufacturer and what you're looking for may be available over here under a different brand name, right?

Most of these are made by TOPOWER right? :disgust:

Aren't some of them only made for use with 220V current?

The egg carries two "be quiet" straight power models under the bgears name. Performance PC carries the be quiet straight power models under be-quiet name plate - I can find the Straight Power models (second tier products) at a few other US etailers also. But - - - - I want the top of the line model- Dark Power Pro because it is modular --and----I want the Be Quiet brand because I just want it-also it has four case fan dedicated plug-ins on the power supply that will control case fans based on power supply temperature and the speed of the power supply fan - ergo no fan controller needed to try and control fan noise.

All reviews give the Be Quiet brand high marks for pure power supply performance and quietness - within a hairs breadth of Seasonic on the straight power models and no fan speed increase at maximum loads do to the high efficiency (no enrgy lost as heat) on the Dark Power Pro.

I'm getting a Lian Li PC-B25B case with two 120 fans in the front bezel and a single 120 fan exhausting at the rear- I'll replace them with Scythe 1600 rpm slipstreams and they will probably run at about 1000 or so most of the time. And that's why I want the Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 650 power supply. I would figure my completed system max at about 250 - 300 watts power pull which would put the power supply at its most efficient operating point around 50% of max power available. This system has to run cool, quiet, and forever because it will never be replaced.

p.s. As far as I can determine - the power supplies are made by a German company called Listan a subsidiary of Revoltec, a well known maker of computer stuff in Europe.

Listan sounds correct. I don't quite get it though, for pure quietness you probably want one of those new enermax PSU's, get a rheobus fan controller and you're done. Isn't the PSU in a Lian Li in the bottom btw ? Not the most accurate place to determine wether your mobo/videocard etc need more airflow or not.

It is a Topower.

In the LL PC-B25B, the power supply is in the "normal" place at the top rear.

Topower??? So be it- it's a good product. But unless someone can point me to the same unit produced under another name here stateside - I'm going to pursue getting the often tested but for some reason unavailable "dark power pro."

Can you tell me how AT acquired the unit they tested in the power supply roundup?

Actually check that I just looked at another set of pics for it and the guts look like a FSP (octocouplers anyone?) and Listan is using an FSP UL number.......but it is in a Topower housing? Notice the APFC, label, and rear layout. Odd.

And Chris is in Europe so he probably got it there.

Some Listan BeQuiet's are made by FSP while others are made by Topower.

That seems like alot of effort to get a fairly expensive, yet mediocre Power Supply

How true, esp. when a Corsair HX620 would seem to be a much better choice....and at least as quiet, if not quieter.....better warranty (and easier to use if have to), better quality build, better everything vs. the Be Quiet ps......

My - you are quite pushy for someone named Jessica. If I thought you were trying to truly warn me away from an unreliable, failure prone product I would be grateful. But as far as I know the jury is not yet in on be quiet! Are you this pushy on all the sites and names you use?

That aside, I don't mean to be confrontational, but we all take a risk on a piece of electronic gear we buy - - -and someone always has to be in the early group that experiences the glitches the engineers overlooked. I'll take that risk.

Thank you though Jessica for caring enough to try to talk me out of this.

Let's bring this back down a couple notches...

I think the issue here is that BeQuiet really brings nothing new to the table and thus shouldn't be worth all of the effort of "hunting one down". Sure, if it was an available option it would still be a good option, but BeQuiet uses "run of the mill" Topower or FSP as a platform. Not BAD, per se, but certainly not something worth "hunting down".

You have to realize with a lot of these reviews, it's a matter of throwing it in a PC, firing it up and going "gee, I can run Crysis and barely hear the PSU."

I haven't had a chance to look for myself, but are any of these reviews that give the BeQuiet "high marks", as you say, a legit site that actually stresses the PSU and gives a run down of the topology of the unit, grade of components, etc?

There are similar options for less money and better options for the same money in this country.

Hey guys - listen - I really appreciate your interest in what may be best for me- and I thank you all a bunch:heart:
 . . . . . . but humor an old man as he begins to exit stage left from the exciting world of home made computers.

You have shown why AT is the primo of computer "talk shows." You are genuinely interested in those who come seeking answers and advice.

I'm going to put my tools away in June, but I will always keep an eye on AT. And if this power supply choice turns into a disaster you guys will be the first to know. And if AT is raving about a new product that I can't do without- - - I just may unearth the old tool box
