guess it's like CRT vs LCD, some love one some love the other. But I believe anyone with ears could hear a difference between vinyl and cd's on a decent system. Which they preferred would be a toss up. I'd imagine the ones who picked CD's over Vinyl would be the same who claim LCD is superior to CRT

That's ridiculous. The picture on an LCD is more accurate, because a pixel is a pixel. Remember, a CRT isn't using an analog film image. It's displaying a digital image that is converted to analog. It's more like recording your CD to a record, and saying it sounds better.

I noticed that too the other day. They have a basic 22" LCD but not the Ultrasharp. With a few of the systems, they will let you choose a Samsung but that's not consistent.

If you are looking for a good 22" LCD, you might want to take a look at the LG L226WTQBF on sale at Circuit City this week. The picture quality on LGs is outstanding.

I still can't stand all but the best of LCDs, and by the time I'm looking at those, the price is too high for my taste. Thankfully, prices are going down, so maybe sometime soon I can pick up a good one and replace my 2nd CRT for dual monitor goodness.

Ha, it's almost the same for me. Brightness is annoying, but some CRTs with really bad refresh are way worse. Still, my super bright 2407 is ok except for use at night after using a dim program/window for a long time.

Que must have been looking at value (aka cheap-o) LCDs. Get a decent LCD and you'll never look back.

Unfortunately your comparision is still flawed. Bar none experts still say CRT is king for accurate image reproduction esp on color and black level than any other display medium.

LCD has an edge on b/w text reproduction and ease of eye strain as far as visual pluses. The big deal though is their size and minimal power consumption/heat output.

Most people have never seen top model CRT's. Most people aren't using top model LCD's either.

There's no trinitron younger that 3 yrs, this discussion makes no sense, comparing used products about to die with new technology.

Yea, sure! LOL

With a good needle and system setup, vinyl is many times superior to CD. Google it if you want more info on the properties of vinyl that make it good for audio reproduction.

I've personally owned the Gateway 24", used the 24" Dell a lot and I had an ex boss who had one of those wizz bang IBM LCD's that 200DPI, he loves to buy expensive sh!t (think it cost him like 7 thousand bucks) I wasn't impressed. I had a 24" Dell which is supposed to be uber good hooked up next to my CRT and there's no way I can say the LCD is better. It's a matter of personal opinion. You are not wrong in your eyes, but in my eyes LCD is poor *shrug*

hmmm there is a thing as new old stock and it's not age that kills eq, it's use.

Most highend monitors should be ok for more than 3 years.

sorry but you know nothing, even a middle line CRT is as good as an LCD for reproduction, a good CRT kills any LCD. Graphic Artists still use CRT's and for a good reason, I don't care about size, power usage, heat generated. I want the best picture possible, and nobody can say an LCD will match a good CRT it's just not possible. In the future? probably so, but as of today there is a noticeable difference.

I love all this new desk space I have after replacing my 17" CRT with my Dell 2407WFP. My CRT was a low-end Viewsonic e70f+SB.

Either I'm mistaken and model number is actually E228WFP, or there is a new model out.
