OK, YOU call me a troll and I call you on it and I'M the angry one -- seems fair... :\
We can beet this to death but the bottom line is that for any number of reasons people that buy Android phones do not get anywhere near the level of support that users of Apple phones get with the very same carriers.
I do expect to get ICS on my SGTab 7.7 within the next couple months but that's not certain given my version is the Verizon LTE one and that's been out a lot shorter time than the GSM version.
Can I ask you a question: do you think it matters that Android users get less support for a much shorter time than Apple users? If not why not?

i really doubt most people care at all either way.
outside of the minute number of people on say droid life or this forum people on both sides could give less than 2 shits about if they get updates.
even with the iphone i know there are tons of people who still havent upgraded to ios5 or never upgraded from ios 3 to 4 or 5.
and its the same with android. the main gripe with gingerbread was it wasnt smooth enough running. the new phones are so fast that even gingerbread will run smooth. and most people frankly dont care.
if you dont update to the latest version of android nothing bad happens. your phone will still make calls, send texts and browse the internet. i am on this forum and am a geek. i have a Gnexus. but i had a tbolt and various other phones before. if i had to use one of them now, it would not really be a huge step back other than feeling a little less snappy. and if anything a lot of that is jsut that those older phones had slower cpus / less ram. my web browsing would be the same. 99% of my apps would still work.
if anything, eventually say HTC does update its phones. the only reason people whine about it is that google releases the source first and then people can compare the date the source was released to the date htc releases the update.
i mean if samsung were the only android phone maker in existance and android was closed source you would never know the difference. how is android deficient? its not.
i mean , ios 3 didnt have multitasking. ios4 still doesnt really have it. when ios4 came out , ios 3 clearely didnt have multitasking. do people whine as much about ios 3 not having multitasking and the huge lag between ios4 and ios3. like ios5 had a notification bar that wasnt there and icloud which google has always had an equivalent for. it tooks a while to get it. but people werent whining because you didnt know that code was already written and just not on your phone. if anything thats the only thing to whine about with android since it had all those features BEFORE apple. just everyone whines about the lag between google and their manufacturer. hell people SHOULD be whining about the lag between getting features on ios, and when the same feature is out on android or when apples software devs started writing it.
i mean its idiotic. would you rather have an iphone that is missing a lot of features but gets updates for those features quickly, or uh a phone that already has those features but gets updates for even better stuff with a delay from the original code source?
