To answer both of your questions, personally I think we should stay out of the middle east until a nation is a direct threat to us.

Foreign policy is typically done by Presidents with bi-partisan support. Obama has imbeciles who have decided to destroy the US to get at him for being a do nothing President. Maybe Obama is full of self hate. You see there have been other democratic presidents that were able to accomplish a few things while in office. Clinton was one such president. He understood that in order to get some things he wanted for the democrats he would have to compromise with the republicans. Clinton worked with Newt Gingrich the same way Reagan worked with Tip O'Neal. Now we have this wonderful community organizer running things whose followers simply yell extremist racist when his emperor like ruling style is brought up.
