Some of us are interested in the architecture, the articles on Fiji, Hawaii, Pascal etc were all highly interesting.
Also even if the RX480 was faster than a 1070, the 1070 would still outsell it, as brand name > all in this troubled time (just look at Macbook pro sales, with shockingly poor hardware specifications).
This begs the question, why would AMD / Nvidia still bother to send this site any hardware, when this site will just do nothing with the hardware, except keep it?
They are only into Apple stuff, and phones.
Yeah, they have the reviewers, so why use them on pointless keyboards and PSU's when they could be reviewing GPU's. Nice writeups about architecture are nice and all, but I'm interested in substantial game performance, what resolution, what mode, what driver, what game version, what setting, mix frames, max frames, average frames, frame times, etc...
Well obviously people doing reviews have different specialities. The guy that does storage may have more time or drive or some sort of incentive to do his. Plus there is less competition. Whereas GPU's seem to be highly competitive and by the time they get a review out...20 other sites have theirs out and traffic numbers don't stack up.
And let's be honest, smartphones pull traffic. People tend to replace theirs every 18-36 months whereas people keep desktops for 5+ years and laptops 4+ years. So at any given time there's more people shopping around for a new smartphone.
I think the downfall of Anandtech isn't so much a result of Anand leaving, but Perch buying Anandtech. It seems like they are more interested in articles that are cheap to produce than ones that are full of substance.

Seems too me that Purch is mostly hands off, except when it comes with technical support with this site. You can bet that they want as many eyes as possible, since that is how they make their $$$.
The fault is clearly with Ryan, he is the one in charge, he is the one that makes all the decisions, and he is the one that hires everyone.
