I see the Moto X 2014 now. So I think it will take a could more days for the iPhone 6/Plus to be release here?

Anyone know when it will be?

Anandtech is typically a little late with their iPhone reviews, but they are much more detailed than other sites who rush to get their's out asap.

Spoiler... It's the best iPhone yet. Isn't that how every iPhone review concludes?

Would love to buy one just can't justify a grand for a phone.

I think in the past the iPhone reviews have come out the day the iPhone was available. So I'm guessing tomorrow.

Seven years ago this was written in the NY Times.

Now, there will be plenty of people who will pass on the iPhone: people who have no Cingular service where they live (that’s the exclusive carrier); who are disappointed that, as a GSM phone, the cellular Internet service is slow; who find the iPhone too big (though incredibly tiny for what it does, it’s big for a phone); who would prefer typing e-mail with a dedicated thumb keyboard than hunting and pecking with one finger on the iPhone’s on-screen keys; and who consider $500 too much for a phone.

That was talking about the original iPhone.

Today we have the iPhone 6 Plus. A 5.5" monstrosity that, from a physical standpoint, dwarfs any Android Phablet.

The iPhone 6 is comfortable to hold, but it's a little slippery. That's probably the number one knock on it. From an aesthetic standpoint, the striped lines are ugly. Overall it's a nice physical package but you'll need a case for it to provide a little more traction cause you're guaranteed to drop it.

The iPhone 6 Plus is large. It's not terrible to hold in your hand but it's noticeably large. I have trouble using it one handed but I had the same problem with the Samsung Note. Clearly it's meant for two handed use. Same slipping issue as the regular iPhone 6.

For both phones, I wish they did not have that protruding camera. I would have liked a thicker phone. Give me a bigger battery dammit. As far as the iPhone 6 Plus goes, make it thicker, this solves the protruding camera issue, but some of the design can go into making the top of the phone shorter. If you look at the top of the 6 Plus, above the screen, there just seems to be too much empty space. Don't tell me they couldn't redesign it so there's less space up there which will shrink up the physical dimensions of the 6 Plus and become more similar in size to the Samsung Note while still retaining the 5.5" screen. I feel they could have shrunk the size by a good 1/4 inch. Any space shifting of the components, especially the battery, can be done with a thicker phone.

I won't get into the differences and preferences for iOS vs Android but I will say this, iOS needs more work to support the iPhone 6 Plus. A lot of the apps are designed to control the app using buttons or scrolling from the top of the app and not the bottom. Unfortunately with the iPhone 6 Plus, it's hard to operate the phone one handed and reach the top of the phone.

I honestly wouldn't even try using anything that big in landscape and would probably use it almost entirely in landscape. Also, didn't they demo some feature for solving just that problem where it slides the entire app down so that the top is now where the middle of the screen used to be. I don't know how convenient it is to use, but it seems like they thought of something there.

What I don't get is why the 6+ bezels and home button are bigger than the regular 6, did they really need the extra internal space or something? Also goes to show that maybe they could've considered it the other way around with smaller bezels/home button instead to shrink it down a bit.

Sorry, I have not found a way to edit the title! I should of used "when" instead of "where". LOL!

If you know how to edit the title; please let me know! LOL!

Never mind I was just being a cranky bastard at the time. My apologies.

If you go into Edit and then Advanced you should be able to edit the title.

I bet that is something Anand and Brian Klug will not miss, questions like is it out yet?

Last year about this time they were doing baytrail, apples a7, iOS 7, lg g2, moto x, iPhone 5s, 5c, Asus t100, nexus 7 2013, Samsung 840 evo, Asus HD memo 7, Chromecast, nvidia shield controller, ivy-e, surface pro 2, surface 2, iMac new model, note 4, previewing galaxy gear, benchmark gate, amd-mantle all with about 60 days by only 2 people. Other people did other articles but my impressions these two were the most prolific in the number of reviews. They also went to the launch events for all these devices thus traveling cross country and being on the road. They also did interviews with outside people, podcasts, etc.

I do not recall which launch event it was but on their podcast they mentioned, they were at an event type typing up a review abou some windows convertible literally on the convertible getting impressions on the ergonamics, keyboard, etc. This was prior to liveblogging the event and one of them had a backpack with like 3 devices doing battery tests, working on the road.

The 5s review was pretty meh. Anand was clearly doing it while traveling and he shot photos on a plane to show us. The review was clearly a step below that of the 5 review.

I appreciate the work that Anandtech puts in in general, but there's certainly consistency issues in reviews. Sometimes the reviews are VERY detailed (look at what Brian Klug did for the M7), but then there are reviews that never show up (ahem GS4 Part 2?).

Its clear with the 6 they're trying to straddle the line of being The Verge and offering a quick review out the door. Instead they offer some quick hands on, a preview article, an SoC breakdown... I honestly think they'd be better off just waiting a few weeks and releasing it all in one giant article like the iPhone 5 review.

I am not disagreeing but I recognize how hard their job is. They make their money not based on the love of the readers but from advertisers and if they are not relevant in the search engine results (and recent news which is within a certain time period helps the search engine results). I want a better review and will gladly wait, they probably would want to do this too, but the bills are paid based on being fast.

Sadly life leads to stupid choices,
