Where is the sweetspot for the Athlon XP?

I am going to get a KT333 board soon and I would like to know which CPU to get. What I am looking for is - Which is the slowest CPU I can get and still have a good chance of getting good OC results? 1700+, 1800+, 1900+?? Thanks in advance.

From what I've heard (& seen), current XP1600+'s are kicking butt. That's what I'd get. As a matter of fact, I did.

haha...jaybee can't fight the temptation...i'd get the 1600+ too...but i think there are specific steppings that works toward o/c advantage...best bang for the bulks i guess...

Yeah, that's why I think the 1600+ is doing so well. My guess is it moves faster than some of the higher rated cores, so the steppings are more recent. Anyway, people have had good results with 1600+'s from newegg. Cheap too.

I don't know about that... I've had a 1600+ running at 1575 MHz for about 6 months now on default voltage (BIOS says 1.744V, MBM says 1.76 idle). It's an AGKGA stepping. It's not 100% stable but it runs Prime95 for hours on end (I've left it on overnight) since I've MemTested my memory at 150 MHz FSB for 8 hours as well I think the problem probably lies in my K7S5A. Fortunately, I've got an Epox KT333 mobo on it's way so I'll be able to see how far I can push this baby

go w/ the 1600+
mine worked like a bloodhound on steroids (after a bit of tweaking)
so i guess go w/ the 1600+ and may the force be with you (i'm such a lame starwars fan)

chalk up another vote for the 1600+ mine is an agioa stepping (which is most common) and I hit 1710@1.8v right outta the box, I can push 1850@2.1v but It's not 100% stable and I didn't see much of a performance gain so I went back to 1710
