Where should I move to (within the U.S.)?

I'm primarily a photographer and soon to be a videographer. Where I live, there are very few clients, and they don't care about quality. I can't be happy doing art unless my productions are technically and compositionally excellent.

I also would like to earn a master's in sport psychology and do a defensive/combat shooting trainer, as a side career. Thus wherever I move to must be very gun-friendly.

Another problem I have with my locale is that almost everyone here wants to move. Probably 3/4 of the friends I make tell me that they'd like to leave either within the next year, or once they finish school -- even a lot of older people want to leave. I'd like to live somewhere that people enjoy staying, because I'd like long-term friends.

Finally, I'm a male and I'd like to work as a stripper. No, I'm not trolling; I get extremely bored and that's what I have so many, and so varied, interests... If I can find a location that also has work opportunity for this profession, that would be great. But I put this one last because it's not a necessity; I'm okay with seasonal work as a stripper, i.e. moving for a few months each year in order to do this, and then going back home.

So then, which locations should I consider moving to?

Note: If you've seen my other threads, you probably know that I'm a CS student and I'm planning to be a programmer. That's still true, but I've since grown bored of sitting behind a computer and now I'd like to work in that field for only a couple of years in order to earn money to market myself as a photographer, and then switch careers.

Hmm, I wouldn't have expected that because Vegas landscape is so ugly (for photo work), but I suppose it has nice scenes nearby.

Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Death Valley are nearby. The strip itself has plenty for you to snap. You could work out a deal with the outdoor range place to video people shooting up machine guns. Offer them 1/3 of what you charge or something like thay.

Vegas for sure lol.

In fact you could start a niche business. Nude wedding photography. Instead of the photographer being a guy who needs to try not to be in the way while also trying to get the best shot, the photographer is part of the entertainment and is nude! Nothing but a strap on... camera. "Check out my Canon!".

that diversity of guns + art appreciation/need for work....I think Austin is the only city that exists for you.

OK, I didn't even get as far as the male stripper part. ....

yeah, still Austin.

everyone's moving to Austin, and they aren't leaving. so you are less likely to lose these temporary friends and associates.

New Mexico is better for that kind of scenery...as far as photography. Also, Vegas is shit and lacks class.

You could get your stripping kicks at all the bachelorette parties and gayborhoods in just about any big city, really.

Would you say then that New Mexico is also a good option, or do you only recommend Austin?

West Hollywood - utilize your photography skills to shoot porn and your computer skills to keep the OnlyFans and other porno sites up and running. You can be a go go dancer at many a gay bar in WeHo.

Your can use your gun skills to be used to train people who are scared of the total lack of police to protect themselves.

Come here to Joisey!

The guys and gals will pump your gas
The gov will take your money.
The people are rude, and are normally in a bad mood
Joisey is for you!

I guess Alberqeurque is pretty chill these days with some quirkiness, but I don't really know much about it. All the New Mexic..ans? that I've known are chill, laid back, open people, but I don't know if that's true of all of the state. I mostly mention it because it's way more photogenic than Vegas or Texas (Mesas everywhere).

Arizona is probably pretty cool, but as far as I know, it's just evangelical conservatives and @IronWing that live there.

Evangelicals aren't a particularly strong force in Arizona politics. Greedy, FYGM old people are the biggest force and drive most of the rabid rightwing stupidity. Life expectancy - fifteen years should be the upper limit for voting.

You should choose Denver. I transferred here's from Chicago and I don't have any regret choosing Denver. The city is vibrant, full of life, and a perfect location for a photographer like you.

Personal business promotion edited out.
