Los Angeles and New York are cookie cutter answers but make a ton of sense. Besides, photographing humans can land you in places you'd not expect...maybe Paris in the future.

Sorry, but gun-friendly and power broker cities don't mesh, even the pro-gun arguments make more practical sense than the anti-gun ones.

Vancouver, British Columbia.

Yep, it's more US than the US is these days. Plus one of its primary industries is filmography. Seriously, we're a global society these days. Don't think you need to stay in the US to do what you want to do, because it's just not true.

yeah, texas is called the next california, as most of the people who move out from cali end up in texas.

I think your govener even told us cali's to not come over and were not welcomed unless we have the last name musk, and are willing to drop billions on a mega factory.

LA is like one of the worst moves, next to San Francisco.
Real Estate is way over priced... rent is super inflated... cost of living is so ridiculous high... we have a homeless problem which our mayor and city counsel love to ignore... our public education (outside UC system) standards is rated close to last in the entire US... we have an illegal alien problem which is growing which again no one cares to address about.... And traffic.... no we don't call it traffic here, its called normal, as every single hour of the day from 7am to 11pm you will sit in traffic somewhere on our freeway.

The nice thing about Detroit is you can just buy an entire block of houses for like $5. The bad thing is that you'll probably get shot before you make it to the property.

L.A is still the place to go if someone dreams of ever "making it" and there's a lot of money to pay to the "artistic" types. To get paid requires "elites" with dough, and thus that's why people will move to an L.A despite all the issues.

I thought that all the back taxes are still due for those cheap houses.

Yeah probably, and think the tax rate is still very high. so it would not actually make sense to buy multiple as you're paying for each one. Unless you can workout something to rezone and make it into a single plot.

Really they should just convert all that to farm land or something, or a big solar farm.

The problem is even if you buy a foreclosure cheap house for about $5,000, then your annual property tax bill would be about $2,600 because the City would assess the house as $57,000 (still too high imo).

Detroiter Anna Bolden knew something was wrong with her tax bill after she said she bought her west side brick bungalow in a tax foreclosure auction for $4,800 in 2011. That year her bill was $2,600, with the city taxing her as if the house was worth $57,000.

"My taxes shouldn’t be this high," the 55-year-old first-time homeowner remembers thinking when getting her bills, "My house was only $5,000, why am I paying this money?"

A year later assessors valued it at $52,000, followed by $45,500 and $36,000 before the city finally lowered it to about $28,000 in 2017, after the reappraisal.

I think that Vegas would be the way to go. Wedding photos by day, stripping at night, and shooting stuff on the weekends!

I'd wait a few months before going, though, so you can arrive for that sweet COVID recovery period. People will be eager to do stupid stuff in Vegas after being trapped in their homes for over 12 months.

Political leanings are ultimately not relevant for fostering a corrupt environment. Lack of accountability is.

I think people in general in Anglo countries have a near "pure" view of government, fully insulated from the "dirt" that is de facto day-to-day operations. The statesman is treated as a religious figure; a sign of purity and honor, and not the actual Machiavellians they are.

The power of government comes from money. A government with no revenue is powerless. But if revenue does come in, why spend it on the people when you can spend it on yourself first and they still vote you in anyway? Such is the darkness of mono-party rule.

I'm primarily a photographer and soon to be a videographer. Where I live, there are very few clients, and they don't care about quality. I can't be happy doing art unless my productions are technically and compositionally excellent.

I also would like to earn a master's in sport psychology and do a defensive/combat shooting trainer, as a side career. Thus wherever I move to must be very gun-friendly.

Another problem I have with my locale is that almost everyone here wants to move. Probably 3/4 of the friends I make tell me that they'd like to leave either within the next year, or once they finish school -- even a lot of older people want to leave. I'd like to live somewhere that people enjoy staying, because I'd like long-term friends.

Finally, I'm a male and I'd like to work as a stripper. No, I'm not trolling; I get extremely bored and that's what I have so many, and so varied, interests... If I can find a location that also has work opportunity for this profession, that would be great. But I put this one last because it's not a necessity; I'm okay with seasonal work as a stripper, i.e. moving for a few months each year in order to do this, and then going back home.

So then, which locations should I consider moving to?

Note: If you've seen my other threads, you probably know that I'm a CS student and I'm planning to be a programmer. That's still true, but I've since grown bored of sitting behind a computer and now I'd like to work in that field for only a couple of years in order to earn money to market myself as a photographer, and then switch careers.
Virgina and somewhere near the Washington DC border, so you can take pictures of Federal landmarks there. I also heard that you don't even need a licence to buy a gun there.

Northern Idaho.

You can proudly display your weapon and your gun (there was a movie once that explained the difference). One is likely to get frostbite though.
