The 'higher build quality' of LV is a myth that people use to justify spending rent money on a purse. More than some cheapo purse, sure, but you can easily find purses of same or greater build quality for much, much cheaper.

It is the brand tax that makes it expensive. LV isn't made out of some magically superior quality, and the design is aesthetically prioritized rather than functionally prioritized.

You couldn't be more incorrect, they do have superior build quality, and it isn't magical. My Nike's last a lot longer than Pay Less shoes, not enough to justify them costing 4x as much, but it's undeniable Nike's are put together better. LV purses are like tanks. We could argue all day about the cost to quality ratio. Not how well they hold up though. My GF has about 30 bags total, LV, Micheal Kor, Dooney & Burk & Coach. All of are quality higher than a normal $20-40 bag. But imho LV's even a step up from the other expensive bags. I have more dealing with bags than a lot of females, so I know a thing or 2. LV is absolutely the best quality bag I've ever seen.

You are seeing fakes. You probably believe you aren't, but you DEFINITELY are.

LV is not available legally anywhere by LV. They don't really ever blow out their merchandise as they don't have too.

I dunno. Our repair shop has been getting them for years. Some of them come from very wealthy customers. There is a very clear difference in quality between the ones ive seen too. There's no way for me to be sure which ones are fake, but I just assumed that the higher quality ones with real leather straps that come from our wealthier customers were the real deal. I suppose they could have just been better fakes.

We actually sell purses from an excellent manufacturer that can be as expensive as $500 and the straps break on them too. I'm starting to think its an unavoidable caveat of shoulder carried purses in general, no matter what the quality. That or simply chalk it up to the fact that nearly all women's fashion products are vastly overpriced relative to their quality.
