Good luck with that. Pretty much every female wants expensive purse, shoes, etc. Just like every guy wants expensive sports car like a Ferrari.

This.

If the ATOT virgins here ever had a g/f then they would have known that.

$1300 on a purse... not very likely that I'll ever do that. I certainly wouldn't have done it for a GF unless I was making 200k annually. Even then, that's a bit much.

My wife kept checking out Coach purses. I finally insisted she buy one that she liked at an outlet store somewhere. She loves that thing.

I suppose it depends on your income level, but if you're a run of the mill guy, 1300 on a purse is fucking nuts. If you're looking for a discounted item, I'd suspect you aren't far from the rest of us. In that case, I'd simply say, no. Is there something else you want?

it's not like I buy purses for her all the time. She says I have to buy one expensive one for her every year.

I showed her a Boss 302 that I wanted. Of course she gave me the look.

I test drove one again a couple days ago. I don't like them. Fast as hell, but I don't like the driving position. The tech in the car is lacking as well. I didn't like the Premium GT either.

I'm would not be surprised if most people against this idea simply could not afford to do so. Hell if I can spend $400 on a suit and that's considered cheap and I'll probably wear it a dozen tomes in it's lifetime, $1300 on something that will be used virtually everyday and retain it's value plus look new in 5 years is not much in the long run.

I bet most of you spend more than $1300 on cell phones or cable tv/Internet in a year.

I have no problem with the dollar value, I do, however, have a problem with this:

My g/f is making me buy her an LV purse. She wants a brand new one.

For our age, yes.

Also, any relationship that is described with "she says that I have to" is screwy.

age-qualified is not an answer really.

I also disagree with "you have to". However, some caveats. I have been with some smoking hot chicks that would do whatever I asked, anytime, any place. I think if they demanded a purse a year out of me; I'd accommodate that.

Yeah, escorts are funny that way. You pay to play.

I don't have an issue with high prices items, even suits. I've bought hand made leather items (shoes, jacket, hand bags) for 200-500 dollars which I have deemed worth the value of the material + labour, but I don't see how a purse probably made in Asia at a sweat shop is worth 1300 dollars. That being said I would still buy a girl one if that's what she really wanted, because overall it really isnt that expensive(4 dollars a day).

All the Louis Vuitton stuff is made in Europe (France, Spain, Italy or Germany) or the US.

While that's better, you're still paying more for the name than anything else. I figure 200 dollars for top quality leather and lining and maybe 4 or 5 hours labor if its hand made. 600 dollars would be reasonable for that.

most of us don't want to deal in swap shops.

Most of LV's luggage would take much more than that.

They don't sacrifice on fasteners, rivets, etc.

$600 of pure payout really would be a $1800 bag the way retail works usually. You just qualified a bargain.

Well maybe I am a bargain shopper, but I wouldn't call a custom tailored suit from Hong Kong, custom leather shoes from Argentina and hand woven silk from India "swap shop" material. But then again I'm not stuck in Florida and travel overseas 6-12 times per year.

Of course you're paying for the name. Same with any luxury good. If you buy a Porsche, you're paying for the name. Insane markup is how Porsche can maintain 20% operating profit while volume car makers eke out 2-3%.
