LV? who buys LV anymore other than nouveau rich from China or college asian kids?

Hermes Birkin bag is where its at....

Birkin is what my wife wants. She said Kelly is acceptable substitute. I told her she can have one when I get my Ferrari.

It could be worse. You could be talking about Chanel purses or Hermes. I think my wife has a long term strategy by exposing me to those other products. It makes LV look cheap!

LV > Chanel, Hermes...fact!

Get it at the flagship store in Paris. It's a lot cheaper there and no tax.

Solution: Give her 1300 dollars cash and a note explaining to her that she shalt depart forthwith to copulate with herself.

We all like pretty things, but this is just absurd.

At those prices, you can probably have a bag custom made to a higher standard.

This.

If the ATOT virgins here ever had a g/f then they would have known that.

Not true, I'm imaging a lot of ATOT'ers have GF's who are very very low maintenance. If that's what you can get, that's what you can get though. (there's a reason they're low maintenance)

age-qualified is not an answer really.

I also disagree with "you have to". However, some caveats. I have been with some smoking hot chicks that would do whatever I asked, anytime, any place. I think if they demanded a purse a year out of me; I'd accommodate that.

We are dual income engineers. My income is six figs.

I guess its the engineering part that makes her a bit more logical, and her old ass parents that make her thrifty. She doesn't like to spend over $100 if she doesn't have to.

If I was a billionaire, I'd buy LVs for her just because, and buy myself a toy or two.

I'm would not be surprised if most people against this idea simply could not afford to do so. Hell if I can spend $400 on a suit and that's considered cheap and I'll probably wear it a dozen tomes in it's lifetime, $1300 on something that will be used virtually everyday and retain it's value plus look new in 5 years is not much in the long run.

I bet most of you spend more than $1300 on cell phones or cable tv/Internet in a year.

You actually think the quality of a LV purse is anywhere near $1300? The craftsmanship of these purses is barely better than a $10 walmart purse.

Dude, I'm married. There are plenty of women who don't force their boyfriends into buying luxury bags they can't afford (my wife would hate that thing anyway, but that's beside the point). If my wife ever stipulated that I *had* to buy her an LV purse I'd laugh at her, just as I would hope she'd laugh at me if I told her she *had* to buy me a Rolex. The whole point of giving a gift is that the giver should be inspired to give the recipient something the giver knows they'll love. Being ordered to get an overpriced leather bag that you can't afford does not count.

I beg to differ. I use my LV bag everyday. It carries a good amount of stuff in it. The straps have yet to show any weakening, nor are the seams coming apart.

A co-worker with a purse made by Guess (purchased at Macy's) with a shorter life span than my bag has already had the straps come off.

If not for the aging on the leather straps, mine would still look brand new. I've had the same bag for over three years now. I plan to use it for quite a while longer.

Even if a $40 bag lasted just three months (which is unrealistcally short), a LV bag would have to last 97.5 months, or more than 8 years of every day use, to be a comparable value.

Again, this is with an unrealistcally short lifespan of just 3 months. If we bump it up to 6 months, not the LV has to last 16 years.

Short answer: Dump her.

Long answer: Of course there are no discounts, its a POS cheap purse that is sold for 1300$ for the recognition value so that people will see and go "wow that is a 1300$ purse!".

The fact she is leeching that off of you rather then buy it with money she worked for is a huge red flag, and she is only a GF now. What happens when you are married? She will bleed you dry.

If she bought it with money she worked for then she wouldn't be an exploiter just looking at you as an ATM to bleed dry and then dump/divorce... but that in turn would still be a sign of serious issues with money management. You cannot have a healthy long term stable relationship with someone like that just as you cannot have such a relationship with a man who has a gambling addiction.

Men who bankrupt their families due to gambling is considered so heinous that any gambling, even done responsibly, is a crime in many countries/states. Pretty nasty double standard that an equally ruinous and mental disorder involving excessive shopping for overpriced trash is socially acceptable.

If you really really love the girl, then stage an intervention because she certainly needs one to not ruin her life and the lives of those she snares.

Then quit being a cheapskate and buy it.

Your choice in women I guess. My wife refuses to let me buy her a Ferragamo purse even though she really like them. Yet last time we were in Vegas I bought a Ferragamo wallet on her suggestion?

On the other hand, she wanted a $1000 pair of glasses so we got those.

Face it, you're not going to find a bargain on luxury items unless they're fake/used.

Good luck with that. Pretty much every female wants expensive purse, shoes, etc. Just like every guy wants expensive sports car like a Ferrari.

Ouch what a horrible set of stereotypes... Also I am a guy and I don't want a ferrari. I don't want a pickup either (since that is the other stereotype). Sensible sedans for me.

Also, there is a difference between WANTING (and buying only if fantastically wealthy) and forcing your non wealthy SO to buy it for you.

On the other hand, she wanted a $1000 pair of glasses so we got those.

Sun glasses or corrective glasses? Because the latter is justifiable
