Breitling >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tag

There are few Breitlings that I consider practical or attractive. Mostly they look like busy watches that are boarding on gaudy. I could see from a pilots perspective the functionality, but even then, not much.

The 3 watches you posted look hideous.

I also feel that Rolex watches, except for the Submariner, make you look like a Jersey pimp. Gaudy and flashy.

Personally I like Omega Seamasters, Tag carerra, Ball Engineer (A little more flashy), or Longines Master collection.

Do you want used or new? I bought my Omega used and I'm pretty happy with it. But if you want new, hop on over to one of the watch forums like watchuseek.com and they can usually recommend a forum authorized dealer for a brand that you can get a decent price with.

I'd look for a Tourneau. They're respectable, though the location near where I live I've found one or two of the sales people to be snotty, but they have a great selection of watches. If you ever want a bunch of watch eye candy, go into the Tourneau store in Las Vegas, it's as big as a Best Buy. I went in there last June and tried on a few IWC watches. The sales lady I worked with was nice, polite, and I did a big of negotiation and was able to get her to drop the price 24% without too much hassle. Tourneau offers free financing for 12 months, but going that route you're not likely to get a discount just FYI.

i know this is an old post.. but check watchuseek.com - they have an active for sale forum.

about 6 months ago, I bought a very nice Longines Masters Collection Moonphase.. these are pretty hard to come by pre-owned.

Also, I did buy a pre-owned Ball Trainmaster Cleveland Express from the 'bay.. simple and very elegant watch.

looking around, you'll find more rolexes and omegas for sale pre-owned. people buy these on impulse then have regrets. When you do your research and find a timepiece you really like, you're less likely to turn around and sell it.

Just came back to mention we found a company like ebay only based in Japan...they ship to the US...it's called rakuten. Some actually compare it to Amazon.

We don't have experience with an order yet, but my wife collects watches and lost one back in 1989ish that was her first big bonus gift (a Hermes).

They actually have craftsmen that take older watches and restore them to like new.

She's actually enroute to Japan now and is going to try to stop by some of their shops.

Tourneau is a great store to try on elite price watches, but NOT a good place to buy since, like all major high end jewelry stores, don't carry sales of any significance.

I would visit Torneau to finalize a decision and then purchase from a reputable online dealer for 25%-40% off--negotiated via email with the store owner. Remember that margins are huge on such items and you should ALWAYS get a good sized discount......barring it ain't Rolex which is ALWAYS in high demand.

I've bought a bunch of watches from jomashop.com. Basically they sell authentic watches below the minimum price they are allowed to. They buy in bulk from authorized resellers and then sell them for less than the authorized guy is allowed to. Since they aren't authorized this renders the manufacturers warranty null and void but they warranty the watch themselves. Seems shady but they state all this up front on their website. I'd say I bought my first watch there ~5 years ago and have never had a problem with one.

Tourneau is a good place to look. Always haggle them on price, if they don't budge, walk.

Also once you narrow down, check amazon.com
