Post in the OT "I Wanna" thread and you will get better responses instead of flames for posting here......otherwise check Best Buy, they sometimes clear the stuff out.....

This belongs in the ~~~~ IWANNA ~~~~ Thread. Please read the forum rules before posting.

Haha.... I think its funny that 3 people posted the exact same thing at the same time

I guess it just goes to show the popularity of these forums.

I read somewhere that the Target branded cables are actually rebadged Monster cables at much lower prices. Don't know if it's true or not, but worth checking out.

dang man, I must say, I dont think people keep posting these threads because they're new and dont know, it's because there is often a couple people who answer them or sugest something or other. Whether the sugestion or whatnot is good or not is besides the point. Why cant you guys just leave the thread to die after the first person tells them that the post doesn't belong here?! Chances are, if there is a good deal out there, someone will post it anyways. Please stop responding to the OT threads unless they are where they belong and stop the fourum clog. And if you dont think anyone will see your inquiries in an OT thread, find a related one and ask for help there.

www.partsexpress.com sells oxygen-free rope cable in 10-ga, 12-ga (and others) speaker cable spools for a lot less than Monster sells it - but if you're looking for the brand name, they don't have it.

Check here, not sure if they offer Monster or lookalikes....but they have some cheap a$$ stuff.....someone posted this link about their prices on USB A/B cables for real cheap....they carry quite a selection.

Hey TheNextRealm,

Sometimes a simple question leads to a Hot Deal.....someone will find a Hot Deal out of the answer.

do monster cables make a difference? I mean your sound card is not the most high in sound quality piece of equipment. In my hometheater setup i used monster cables and regular radio shack wire for my speakers. Don't hear any differences. Get radio shack wires, nice and cheap.

I love the irony of people responding by writing:

Ok I can maybe see getting Monster cable for analog uses, but a Monster USB cable, come on its digital, what could it possibly do.

Wow, that'll make a big difference, the 1's and 0's will be so much clearer. Ever since I ran that monster cable from my USB hub to my computer my mouse and keyboard are so much more accurate. My mouse movement is much crisper. It so accurately reproduces the mouse clicks and the wheel movements. I'm glad I paid 20 bucks for a USB cable with gold plated connectors.

It's such a scam. Save your money and buy the rat shack cables, at least for your computer stuff.

The hot deal is to not let a lot of marketing dollars influence which products you buy.

I REALLY have to wonder what sort of idiot thinks the 6 feet of wire between the modem and wall outlet can in ANY material way improve data transmission compared to the hundreds of feet of cheap wire in the walls of the building and the thousands of feet of wire between the building and the telco stuff.

For home audio I tend to use pro quality wire from Markertek.

Homedepot has monster cables, gauge 12 or 16. I remember price is about $1 and $0.5/ft. So you can buy for example, 11 feet if you don't need a 25 feet package.

This type of thread has come up before. Previously someone posted a link to a site that had an extremely thorough test of monster vs. good quality noname cable. They ran objective instrument teast as well as a boat load of double blind subjective tests.

Long story short, save your money and get good 12g wire. They did say something about more strands being better and oxegyn free something or other.

I remember Brian Hook posting a good bit about Monster audio cable a couple of years ago over at Voodooextreme. He said in the end he found that Monster really didn't offer anything over high-quality low-gauge audio cable from less well known (and less expensive) companies. Not helping find a deal, I know, but worth thinking about. Looks like Hook is big time into high-end audio, so I figure he knows a bit about this.

I second the Home Depot 12 guage wire.

You buy whatever length you want and it works great. Also, a fraction of the price of monster cable.

Don't buy Monster cable or any other overpriced cable. Just use #16 zip cord for speakers and ordinary shielded cable for low level audio signals. If you absolutely insist on gimmicky cable, there are cheaper alternatives to Monster from places like MCM Electronics
