So, I've read around and just want to check on the pricing and availability of the Zippy PSUs. The only problem is, I can't find it anywhere. Thanks

MyAopen.com is probably the most well known vendor of Zippy products.

Yep. That's where I got mine. Contact Alice and ask her for an overclockers.com discount. They had that up for our members a few months ago and I'm not sure if they do that anymore, but it is worth a shot.
Ask her if any of the new energy efficient units are available? If you are going to splurge on a Zippy, go with the newer more efficient design.

Thanks everyone, but I still have some more questions. Alice on overclocker.com discount or Alice from MyAopen? How do I contact Alice? Do I need to have an overclockers.com account? Also, what exactly is the newer more efficient designs (e.g. new model number)?

Wow...thanks for such great help. One last question though, those psu seems a bit *big*, would they fit in any standard case or do we need a special case? I would like to put it in an Antec 900; is that sufficient?

That is the exact same case I have. It fits with plenty or room to spare. I have the G1 series (GSM-6600P).

They're engineered for the server market, not the home market, for the most part. Expect to pay a premium and for quietude to not have been much of a factor in their design...

Those are 1U or 2U supplies. I provided links to the desktop version. Similar guts as the PSL series, but in a much nicer finish and relatively silent.

Zippy products are not known for there being quiet....
Yet at the same time they are a good solid well built PSU!!
Some people value workmanship and dependability over quiet!!

Yet latley you can get all the above and quiet....Seasonic makes some nice PSU`s!!

Peace!!

The server Zippys are noisy, as they should be in a server room.

The Zippys with thermal control are about as loud as the old Fortrons with 80mm fans with "noise killer" thermal control.

The new 80+ efficient Zippys are <30dBA at full fan output. That is fairly quiet for all but the folks at SPCR. Reviews of these units are not out yet, to the best of my knowledge.

The two Zippy units here have been modded for external 92x38 fans that are quiet with no loss of cooling cfm.

To satisfy the SPCR definition of quiet, you'd have to suspend yourself and your case in vacuum/outer space...
