Where to eat in downtown LA?

So I'm staying in downtown LA (Omni) - haven't stayed here in probably 3 or 4 years. Any particular restaurants that you might recommend? Preferably "clean" eating but I'm fine with a little gluttony every few days. Also, I haven't done any food truck research yet, what are the famous ones in LA and are any of them in the downtown area at night?

Thanks all...I'm usually by the ocean or with my relatives when I'm here so I've just about forgotten what there is to eat/drink downtown.

I'm a big fan of wurstkuche, it's on 3rd, right next to the school of architecture. They have a website.

Its kind of a hipster like sausage place with a ton of very good beers. Gets very busy on the weekends.

Awesome, I'll look them up. I think I might've been there years ago, the name looks vaguely familiar...

(I looked up the last time I stayed here and it was in 2007!)

Bottega Louie is a good choice. Watergrill if you're in the mood for oysters/seafood.

lol, don't do it. Tourist Trap to the max.

@OP: Need desired cuisine and budget

Here's a few...

Men Oh in LT for Ramen (fuck SSG/Daiko)
Kagaya for shabu shabu (5 course prie fixe, $$$)
Spice Table for Singaporean (Food & Wine hot chef)
Sushi Gen @ Table for a cheap sushi dinner
Sushi Gen @ Bar for an expensive sushi dinner

There's a few "pay to talk to girls" type bars too.

DTLA is in a renaissance so it's take your pick for bars/lounges

Are you staying in J-Town? Just walk outside and there are amazing restaurants all over the place. Do you like ramen? Yakitori? Sushi?

Sure, you're right. I guess when I go there, I am going specifically for places I know are good. I don't walk into random restaurants.

sorry NB, but fuck that place man.
Bottega Louie is very definitive LA - upscale, all show no go, hipster-douche lounge, overpriced. This is all fine and dandy, but the food isn't really all that, the wait is long, and while I am not one that usually complain about service, but their service sucks. Probably because our party didn't dress like we belong.

what I can add to the list is, if you are really hungry at night: The Pantry (i think their steak are so-so though)

J-town has plenty to offer.
Philippe for french dip in China town.
skip the chinese restaurants in china town

Dunno, the one time I went to BL the service was fine and food was good (not OMG good). We certainly weren't dressed "well" either. Anyway...

I'm not good with areas so I don't know if this is downtown, but Tommy's on Beverly & Rampart is godly. It seems like it that would be down-town'ish. And it's Open 24 hours too. IMHO nothing says LA like Tommys.

How far are you willing to drive? "Animal" is orgasmically delicious and really not that far. Reservations practically required.

BUT, Langer's is close to downtown, and is the best pastrami in the country. You should def go there. Get a reuben or the one with cole slaw on it. They close at 4:00 and aren't open on Sundays, so you'll have to go for lunch.
