Where to get a good selection of import music CDs and related DVDs?

What places online generally have a good selection of import music at a reasonable price? (65 USD for a CD is not reasonable.) Like if they've got anything for a particular performer, they'll have all or almost all selections available; even if they have to special order it, it's at least in their listings. Doing a Google search naturally provides hundreds of results, half of which are irrelevant and the other half I have never heard of the site and I don't want to just go to EVERY site that might have stuff.

Amazon's got a few things but their listings are so uninformative that I can't be sure exactly which ones are which. HMV.com has hardly anything. CD Universe, BestBuy.com, CircuitCity.com, just don't have anything not US-released.

Specifically I'm looking for one band, Tokio Hotel (currently obsessing over them, particularly Bill, to the point of considering copying his neck tattoo). I've got the US album Scream, Zimmer 483 Limited Edition (Import) is being shipped, but locating other stuff is giving me trouble. There is a DVD of their Europe tour in 2007, which comes in the standard version and a special edition which has more material. I want the special edition but can't find it. And if I can't get US releases of their German-language albums, I'd like to get the ones released in Germany unless it's like 75 dollars each. (I really like rock sung in German. Especially by hot guys with nice voices. The English versions are still good though, it's not just the language.)

Amazon's other websites can ship internationally, so if you want a German item, you could order from Amazon.de and get it shipped to the US.
Looks like the DVD is 25euros + 14 euros shipping, so about $60 in all.
But I expect if you do multiple items the shipping cost will not be so bad, since AFAIK it's not per-item.

check out amazon.com.uk? they usually have stuff that you can't get on the US amazon. I juts ordered a DVD from there because the US one didn't have it. Of course, you have to have the right equipment (or know how to modify your equipment) to work with different regions.

as horrible as *any* music can be, it will never reach the level of TH.

I don't think there's any way not to get screwed on price when buying import CDs.

I usually go with gemm.com, but like nakedfrog said at times you'll have to pay alot to get an import.

I figured there has to be someplace that carries them and is in the US that doesn't charge you as if they were shipping an individual CD from South Africa to northern Siberia. (No I'm not in Siberia.)

Different tastes. I only knew of them from seeing them win best new artist on the MTV Video Music Awards (although I have a vague memory that maybe I had briefly seen them before). I liked the bit of the music they played there, and Bill the singer was hot and I liked his German accent, and his twin brother Tom obviously looks hot too but with a different style. And I like his smile. But dreadlocks aren't appealing.

They've been active for 7 years so SOMEbody besides me likes them. I was going to say they must have some talent to get a US release, but the US entertainment industry will publish anything these days.

All I've listened to for a week is their albums, when I'm working around the house or driving. I don't think I'll get tired of it anytime soon.

They have 2 matches. One is Schrei which I might get, it's only 20 bucks and Express Mail only makes it 33, or 24 for economy air.

The other is Make Some Noise: The Campaign To Save Darfur, for which they did one track, which I actually did buy from Amazon as a download because I'm not buying that album just for one song.

Looks like I might find something good there. The results listing format sucks though. No sort? No advanced search (though after searching it looks like I can change filters). Again I'll have to wade through all the varyiing descriptions trying to figure out which ones are actually the same thing, but released in a different country.

Ah there's the advanced search. Under User Tools along with account settings. Totally more intuitive than a link beside the standard search button.

CD Universe

I used to get imports through Amazon, but I gave up on them for various reasons. Craptacular customer service being one, and the other being that their "new" imports often looked like they were picked up at a flea market. They would arrive scratched up, covered in fingerprints, et cetera every time.

Danke. I looked at CD Universe. I think it came down to hoping not to pay 50 bucks for a CD, or in some cases being not quite what I wanted (i.e., version released in France). I think I may end up going with them though.

I went to the official merchandise site and apparently they don't ship to the US. Irked me as they had listings for exactly the things I wanted, though shown as backordered so who knows if I'd have gotten anything.

I'll have to look into what these Fan Pack Flightcases are too. They're French, I'd rather have the album insert and stuff in German or English, but I can deal if that's all I can get.

Borders.com seems to have an okay selection, but their inventory system is kind of poopy. Sometimes items they show as available are actually backordered, but still ship within a few days. Sometimes backordered items that they claim would ship within 2-4 weeks ship within 1.

It's luck of the draw, but they don't charge you until your items have actually shipped, so it doesn't hurt to just place an order and wait it out. They also give out 40% off coupons from time to time, limit of up to 3 CDs. I like to buy giftcards on Ebay for below face value, then use the 40% off coupons when they become available to get big discounts on my music. I recently ordered 9 CDs from em for under $70, all with original retail prices of $16-18.

amazon.com used sellers are sometimes 1/2 - 1/3 the cost of Amazon itself for brand new CDs, a Jeff Lang blues CD from Oz was $15 instead of $45, some UK Fairport Convention was $12 instead of $30 etc.
