What is the best stuff and where can I get it? I used the Radio Shack stuff before, but on the PII I used it on it looks like it dried up. I wonder about its long-term effectiveness.

Also, does it matter about conductivity - and I mean electrical conductivity, not thermal conductivity. I noticed that some compounds advertise both.

Most extreme folks around here have been using artic silver. I found some on this site Paste. You might want to shop around for a better price. You want it to be non conductive. Hope this helps.

I have been wondering about the various reports on "plain" heatsink compounds like the Radio Shack. Some say it's great, some say it dries up or gets thicker. I keep reminding myself that it's a silicone-based grease with some oxide filler. Silicone grease is what you put on your spark-plug boots in your car, and it stands up to very high temperatures (try touching the engine near the spark plugs after it's warmed-up). Just some food for thought.

Wondering about the Pay Pal thing. I don't have a Pay Pal account and the Everything Connected site says that I have to pay through Pay Pal, that they will create an account for me. Is this legit? Is it a good thing to do?

What about making your own copper paste ? Does taking copper dust (From milling a water block) and mixing it with silicone heat sync gell work good ? I think when I mill my copper block I'm going to try doing that. I'm using a high speed steel grinder bit in my dremel to mill out a channel in my block, and from the preleminary tests it produces very fine copper dust. Anyone tried this yet ? I'll post my temp results when I'm done with my water setup and testing my home brew gel.......

I'm using the Goop that came with my Alpha 6035 from 3dfxcool. It's around $4 and much better than the silicon blister pack one, but probably not as good as the Artic Silver.
