Where to I delete files that recently started causing internet popups?

I have been messing around with getting the windows xp FTP software to work and somehow in the process I got an something that is causing me to get internet popups all the time. Is there a temporary file folder or something else I can delete to stop this?

You seemed to have stumbled upon some sort of spy-ware...

It sounds like you are getting ads through the built in messenger feature of win2k & xp. This feature was meant for getting messages from your system admin to tell you they were going to shut down the server. Someone figured out the they could use this for sending pop up ads, and have been spamming ever since. If this is the case, you need to go into the admin tools folder and run the services option and disable the messenger service. This is not the same thing as MSN messenger, so you can shut it off and still IM. Hope this is what you meant.

I am inclined to agree with vicodiN. I bet the ftp proggie you downloaded had an extra program included.
