where to put the network bridge?

my xp pc hooked up to sat service w/ a pci card, dial return. nic goes to lan port on router used for wireless, it has a fixed lan ip of 192.168.0.10 since my pc is using 192.168.0.1, access point enabled, all firewalls are off. the dialup is shared so roomie can get to internet through wireless access point, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. read that a network bridge might help, but not sure if it needs to be on my machine or his.... or how to cinfigure it

I don't think adding a bridge is the solution to your problem. Is your roomie having trouble maintaining a wireless connection?

ahhh, my first thought was that maybe you are talking about a wireless bridge, but now I have another idea.

Your computer is connected directly to the satelite and the dial-up right? And you want to share your computer's internet connection with your roomie using ICS on your computer, right?

The problem is that (I think) ICS can only only share a single connection, so what you want to do is BRIDGE the satelite adapter and dial-up adapter on your computer so it shows up as a single virtual connection that can be shared through ICS? I'm not sure if this it is really possible to share a bridged connection with ICS, but here is how you would bridge the connections:

Go to Control Panel and open Network Connections. Highlight the satellite adapter and the dial-up adapter, RIGHT-click on one and select "bridge connections." This will create a new virtual connection labeled something like Bridged Connection.

Again, this is how you create a bridged connection, though I don't think it's going to solve your problem.
