Were looking to stay for 3 nights in the middle of Feb, gonna be checking out some law schools in the area... Unfortunately, my girlfriends sister no longer works at marriott, so no discounts anymore

UPDATE: My dad is gonna be helping out with some of the tab.... Im thinkin i might splurge a tad and surprize my girlfriend with a 3 night stay at The Plaza hotel. Found rooms for just a hair over $200 a night....

Here are the places you need to check out, friend.

Affina (Manhattan East Suites)
These are all suite hotels with several locations around midtown.
Check out their specials for better rates.
I highly recommend this chain. All rooms are spacious with full kitchens and separate bedrooms. Rates do vary by location.

Marriott Royal Rhiga
Another all suite hotel.
This might be a bit out of your price range, but again, check the specials.
The best hotel experience I have ever had in NY.

Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square
Another great spot.

Courtyard New York Manhattan / Times Square South
A bit more reasonable but in a good location.

I can probably recommend a few more for you. Just let me know where you were planning on heading (midtown, downtown?).

Hotels.com

I got a great deal on a fairly nice hotel right in Manhattan for about 100 bucks a night.

Whatever Priceline.com gives you in the star range you're looking for.

I stayed 2 miles outside the Lincoln Tunnel in Secaucus, NJ at the Radisson. There's a whole bunch of hotels in the same strip, but Radisson was great b/c right outside your door is the NJ city transit which takes you to port authority in less than 10 minutes (good way to avoid the tunnel fee and parking) plus a good idea is to pick up discount coupons which offer special walk in rates (I picked it up at my local Denny's). i.e. On Thanksgiving for the Macy's parade, I presented this coupon at walk in and got a nice king size bed with living room, fridg, microw, etc for $80 tax incl for one night. Youre not going to find much better than that so close to NYC.

Good luck!

i have been there many a time...if you want to stay in Manhattan....stay at the Sofitel ...it rules over the rest, xcept plaza....DO NOT stay at the Grand Hyatt, it is a dump and the service sux. The Roosevelt is okay, not great, but better than the Grand Hyatt

JC out

Sofitel is fine and you can usually snag rooms there for less than half the price of the Grand Hyatt.

ny is one of the most expensive places to live in the usa. It's not like 40 bucks a nite in vegas. 100 bucks is the pretty much the minimum regardless of whatever borough you choose except MAYBE staten island.

So i think ive narrowed it down to the Sofitel and the Le Parker Meridien... Both within $10 of each other....

Any one else?

lol word! =p

Just don't get murdered...

I have to say though, Central Park is pretty creepy late at night...you can't see if anybody's coming, and if anybody actually showed up to kill you you'd have no recourse.

Oh well
