Where to take a golf vacation?

Thinking about taking a few days off at some point this winter and heading somewhere warm to play a few rounds of golf. Curious to see if anybody has any recommendations of where would be a good place to spend a few days and play some good golf? It would be nice if there was some nightlife or other activities in the area too...Doral had crossed my mind due to it being in Miami. $$$ isn't the key issue, but I don't think i could quite justify the 500/round for something like pebble.

Any advice would be appreciated.

its not bad right now, its usually 55-65 in the daytime although its fucking 27 tonight and im freezing cause heat isnt workin (im from MB but currently live about 50-60 miles northeast of there now)

Myrtle Beach is great, but in the heart of winter it can be really cold, windy, rainy and even snowy in that area. You might get a nice week, but you might get one where you can't play at all. I wouldn't want to bet my entire vacation on that kind of crap shoot, so I wouldn't count on MB other than late fall or early spring.

If money isn't an object either Hawaii or somewhere in the Caribbean would be safer choices and would provide much better chances of good weather. If you need to stay in the lower 48 go with southern Cal, south Florida, Vegas or Arizona.

lol we haven't had a big enough snow to disrupt golf for more than a day since 1989.

Where do you live? I've spent many vacations in Surfside/Garden City, and a few up in the Holden Beach area just east of Wilmington.

I'm guessing you can't be far from Holden.

Thanks for the comments so far. Myrtle Beach isn't going to happen, if I'm going to deal with flying, I'm definitely looking for better weather than 50s for highs...

Hadn't thought of Hawaii, prices don't look too bad, only issue is the travel time (I'm on the east coast) but it's been added to the list.

Vegas isn't happening, I don't have the self control to avoid the tables, already been 3 times this year and CES is right around the corner

Arizonas on the list, always wanted to play those desert style courses.

Keep them coming, specific resorts/courses would be great too.

Not really sure what the weather is like this time of year, but take a look at Mesquite, Nevada, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas:

At least four championship courses, plus two or three lesser courses. One of the best kept golfing get-away secrets in the country.

When you say AZ I'm assuming you're talking about Scottsdale, which is what I came into this thread to recommend. This is their busiest time of year though.

Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert??? Hilton Head has some nice golfing, but may not be warm enough for you.

If you want cheap good golf, play the Robert Trent Jones Trail in Alabama. When I went a few years back, it was about $45/round. The courses are all over the state. They were beautiful.
