Where were you on 9-11?

I was in a co-op homeschool group in the 7th grade. I walked into the home and everyone was huddled around the TV. My friend at the time, Nate, told me someone bombed the WTC. I told him he was wrong -- that no one could bomb us... then I sat down and watched the second plane hit. I will never forget that day, we watched the news all day. The co-op teacher was the assistant pastors wife... we had a few members of our church who had family members that lived very close by and one that worked in the first tower... he was late to work that day.

I still cry about it to this day.

A little about me:

I was asleep enjoying my last week of vacation before heading off to college for the first time.
At that point I had been very depressed over family issues and this just made it worse.

It was hard being happy at college.
It still didn't help to remember that the only reason I missed out on the Tuesday, September 11th trip to NYC that my dad was going to take me on was because I...overslept.

I probably posted in this last year or at some other point, but I'll post again....

I was in 8th grade (last year of middle school). I don't remember what class I was in at the time, just that around 9 in the morning, the principle came on over the PA to say that school was going into lockdown. No one said anything and I had no idea what was going on until about 1 in the afternoon when my mom came to the school. She told me that two planes had hit the Twin Towers and that they were gone. She also told me that my dad was okay (at the time, he worked across the street in the World Financial Center and before 1992, on the 101st floor of the North Tower). I had no idea what she was talking about, but I felt floored. Went back to class still pondering what she was talking about. When I got home, the tv was on with the continued news coverage and recap of what happened. Suddenly, all the pieces fell into place.

That was about 5:40 am here on the west coast. I was sitting in my pick-up in the jobsite parking lot, having a cup of coffee before starting work at 6. As zoiks said, at first, "A plane has hit one of the WTT," sounded like some moron drove his Cessna into one of them. Then, the 2nd plane struck, and they announced that they were jet airliners.
I didn't see anything onthe TV until I got home about 8 p.m., and remained glued to the tv till way past midnight, even though I had to be up by 3 to go back to work. To this day, I'm amazed there weren't more people killed. The next day, I put my fl0ag to half-staff and left it there for the next 60 days, even though Bush ordered all flags back to full staff, and a couple of my neighbors started giving me shit about it. "But the President said..." I returned it to full staff for Veteran's day.

Was about to walk into class (tech school) and one of my classmates ran out screaming we are being attacked! Looked over at the parking lot of a huge office building and saw everyone leaving... went home then saw everything on the news...

Ate breakfast with my ex in the morning at her college's cafe and then headed back to my college to my class.

I saw a bunch of people hanging in the lounge while working toward my class and then saw the news.
