I accidentally posted in Off topic because there are apparently two identical threads here as usual for some reason with hurricanes.


I have a property on Pidgeon Key which is pretty much directly in the path of this hurricane. It's a 3 story house (two stories on top of a 12' elevated concrete slab) with metal shutters. According to the deplorable builders I payed to build it, it should survive up to 150mph winds. I have my doubts though.


My neighbors have left multiple messages asking to use it as a shelter because their crap trailer which somehow survived George is probably rated for 30mph winds. Too bad for them they had to put those "Vote Trump" signs out. I saw that, and they will pay for it. Hopefully the warm memories of all the liberal tears they drank holds them over for the duration of the storm.

Residing in the Space Coast area and have most things stocked up. Still need to nab some AA/AAA batteries though. The high pressure system to the east of Florida is dissipating due to a through. It is what was keeping Irma from turning northward. Current projections are showing an earlier and earlier turn to the north to the point where it may just graze the east side of Florida or hopefully keep far enough offshore so that east Florida may experience Cat 1/2 wind speeds or lower (similar to Matthew). This is all still varying since several days before potential Florida landfall.

Will take west side of a hurricane over the northeast side any day.

The biggest problem right now is that we are running out of gas. Apparently after Harvey gas has not been coming in like it should and with everyone stocking up almost all the stations around me are empty. I spent 2 hours last night looking, and an hour today at 9am to finally find gas.

I can tell you this, Ft Lauderdale to West Palm is NOT ready for a cat 4 to hit. I have been here for over 10 years now and the trees alone are a huge sign. There are a ton of fences that are falling apart. The last time this area was hit was back during Wilma. If this hurricane hits us at a 4 like it looks to, there is going to be a lot of bad around here.
