The difference here is that the Congress was driven to action based on public outcry. Reid took his orders from MoveOn and even members of the TV based press called him out on it.. showing that he was clearly taking the speech deemed "offensive" out of context.

To support Congressmen condemning any individual for expressing his view is amazing... MoveOn is a political action group, Rush is a talk show host who does wonders in lambasting both the Left and Right. Hell this whole crap story actually drove me to listen to a podcast of him (he isn't on my list of people I listen too - Clarke Howard is on the same time and I like Clarke). I didn't find anything of like that Media Matters (aka Hillary's PAC) claimed.

Face it, Reid was marching to the tune of redirecting the controversy of a truly offensive printed ad taken out by a political fringe group who got a discount from the so called unbiased press (a discount only revoked once it became public). Worse, we have the DO-NOTHING DEMOCRAT Congress wasting two days decrying the Patriotism of a fellow American....

If they would bother to govern instead of investigate and attack they might earn some points. I guess there weren't any religious radicals to burn out of house and home currently for them to go after

Actually, that's *exactly* who organizes as a 501(c)4.

The fact they did is irrelevant to the fact that it is a group of private citizens exercising their right to political speech.

If anything, it's Rush who is less the 'private citizen' exercising private speech; while technically that's accurate, he's the self-admitted 'entertainer' putting on a show.

I quoted my post from YESTERDAY, which was BEFORE your post (your post was 2:07AM 10/05 - mine was 8:10PM 10/04 - CST). I addressed this new attempted smear by MM. You have yet to show where he called/compared a soldier to a suicide bomber. The reason you haven't is because it's nothing but another smear made up by MM and the rest of the rabid left.
Since you think you have posted where the "suicide bomber" part is - please bold it...if you can. There is NOTHING in your post(even his quote) which suggests he did such a thing except claims by you and MM. Olbermann had a member of votevets.org on last night and he recited excerpts from letters written by Rush defenders. They were being called, inter alia, traitors and pieces of shyt. If it were written in crayon i'd suspect shivyeta did it But it goes to show how tenuous the right wing respect for the military really is. The votevet thinks, and I agree, that the reason soldiers are being discouraged from supporting a pullout from iraq is that the republican party fears a military and military family retreat.

Uh, how do you get "suicide bomber" out of that? What he said is correct. They put this vet out there spouting their smear(attaching it to his belt) and since they put this ad out there they hoped to reach as many people as possible with the smear. It's how ads work. You and your types are being intellectually dishonest by trying to continue the smear, and then trying to twist yet another statement into "sucide bombers" that had NOTHING to do with suicide bombers.

What's more ironic - and hypocritical - is watching the 'support the troops' chanters defend Rush when he calls the many who oppose the war 'phony troops'.

And it's even *more* ironic and hypocritical for those who tried to Kerry had insulted the troops by twisting what he said now defend Rush.
