Hi guys,

I'm considering to buy a new 21" monitor. Since I have limited deskpace, I can only get a monitor whose height is less than 19.5". I have found these 3 monitors, please tell me if you guys have used it before or direct me to a review site. Anyway here are the monitors:
1. Hitachi CM813U+: (~$940) Max Res: 1920x1440@75Hz, Rec. Res: 1600x1200@90Hz
2. Iiyama VM Pro 510: (~1000) Max Res: 2048x1536@80Hz, Rec. Res: 1600x1280@97Hz
3. CornerStone P1600: (~980) Max Res: 1856x1392@72Hz, Rec. Res: 1600x1200@92Hz

Some questions I have are: Does Max. Res. really important to consider to buy a monitor, since most of us hardly use the Max Res anyway? What resolution do you guys usually use for 21" monitor? Any site that has an intensive review on monitor?

I know those 3 monitors are good, but which one has the cool features & stuff?

TIA,
GGrinch

I've got the Vision Master Pro 510, and I think it is great. I compared many monitors visually in the stores before buying this one. The only thing close in quality are the SONY monitors, which are more expensive. The Diamondtron NF True Flat CRT tube is very sharp and has great color saturation. You need a really good quality video card (i.e. Matrox) to take advantage of the higher resolutions and refresh rates, though. That is one reason I went for the (better value) Iiyama; so I had money left over to buy a worthy video card. See the AnandTech review: http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1097&p=1
"the Pro 510 also uses Mitsubishi's DiamondTronTM CRT. The result is breathtaking clarity, and precision of anything that is displayed on the CRT. "
I have 2 Iiyamas now, and I think their display quality is top notch, but I hate their controls. Actually, I don't understand why reviewers have not complained more about the lame controls. There are only 3 buttons to control everything. That did not keep me from buying another one, though. I spend more time looking at it than I do adjusting it.
My Iiama is 19.25" tall (I just tape-measured it), but if you are looking for a smaller monitor in general, this is not it. It's HUGE. It's deep and heavy, so you might want to check your depth limitations (some Hitachi monitors have much less depth).
