Hello, I'm getting smart errors and warnings from my HDDs and I want to replace them with an SSD. I kinda need 4tb so my options are limited.
Right now I consider the Samsung EVO 860, but I don't know if the PRO version would be more reliable. The price of the PRO is 50% more than the EVO...
The drive would be a storage drive (OS is on a PCI SSD). I already backup the data to several locations, but I still want something reliable, because I'm afraid that I might mess up when I restore my backups, or that my backups could be corrupted (if my data gets currupt whithout me noticing it).
When more (and cheaper) 4tb nvme SSDs arrive I plan to use the SSD for backup.
I know that the PRO is MLC and the EVO is TLC, but I don't know if that matters if I dont exceed the max TBW which is already huge for the EVO (2400 TBW)? Would an EVO be more likely to fail?
Any other drives I should consider? Would it be better to go with an enterprise drive like the Micron 5200 ECO? It's only a little more expensive than the Samsung EVO?
Thanks
Benjamin
