Do any of the GTs have 1.6ns memory on them? I love BFG's warranty, but I've read that their dual fan heat sinks aren't so good. I also wasn't sure about the component quality of BFG vs anyone else. I'd like 1.6ns ram if possible, and just look for cards that have had good luck overclocking. Too bad I couldn't get one of the "good" 6800le models....

Oh well... tell me what gets your vote as most likely to reach ultra specs or surpass them.

Thanks,

but is the BFG usually a good overclocker? I could always get a new cooler, that's not THE main concern, but I do want a card that is considered a good overclocker. If I don't reach ultra speeds it's OK, but I would at least like the best shot at it.

Thanks,

No two GT's are the same, even if they are from the same batch from the same company.

so it is a complete crapshoot? no brand of card has had more success? I have a hard time believing that is completely true. DO they all even have 1.6ns RAM? Like I said... I'm not demanding that I buy one and have it run at ultra speeds, but I'd like to figure out which card might have a slight edge... uses better memory... or anything such as that.

I understand your point, keys.... but again I'm looking for trends, not certainties...

Thanks,

The only card i can think of with 1.6ns memory is the Gainward Golden Sample. Those are pretty expensive though, high enough to consider an ultra.

I would just go with the BFG, has a great warranty.

Well i heard the Gainward and the Leadtek 6800 GTs have the best coolers... you need something with a good cooler..but alot of people OC with any brand.. i dont see much of a reason on OCing, you'll get like what.. 5 extra FPS,,, and better numbers.. you wont even notice the difference in the game..
i bought the Leadtek 6800GT.. and i have only heard good news of it.. but mine came defective.. so i am not quiet sure what im going to get .. i might retry again with the Leadtek

thanks for the replies..... I actually would probably not OC a GT if I get one. I've been considering a 6800nu for the longest and would want to overclock it..... so I have overclocking on the brain. with a gt I wouldn't worry about it. Honestly, with a 6800nu I probably would not have to worry about it, but might give it a try. I'm still considering a non Ultra since if I get that for $250 or $200 (black friday deal) I would have enough left over for a WD 74g Raptor which would help a lot on Everquest II. Or I could get some more RAM, which is always good.

Anyone have any opinions on a 6800nu? BFG all the way?

Thanks!

Check out my posts on unlocked 6800NUs, they're basically halfway between NU and GT performance at the settings they can run. (no 16X12) I've posted Doom 3, Far Cry, and HL2 benches on stock/unlocked/unlocked + OCd 6800NU- should be enough info to make a choice on this subject.
