So I am having a little bit of issue with my main rig, the 5930k + X99 Deluxe, and was thinking of upgrading it to an X470 board and putting my 2700X in it. I know that the 3000 series is coming soon, and I will likely drop in one of those CPUs when available. My question is, what X470 boards are recommended, and what possibly would I be missing, if anything, not waiting for X570 boards, or whatever they are called.

I was currently looking at the Asrock X470 Taichi, which is on sale for a decent price.

As said above, the ASRock x470 Taichi is a solid upper tier board, other options are:>
Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 7 WIFI
ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming
Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming

I would rate them best to worse top to bottom, although none are really bad, just worse value.

If you have a Microcenter near you it’s $188 then $30 with a cpu purchase so $158 with cpu.
I’m thinking I’ll go with the tiachi
Only bummer is I do not need Bluetooth or WiFi built in but it appears to have the best memory support.

Asrock Taichi if you can afford it.

Though I personally prefer Asrock killer since they are nice for the price. The gripe is that they come without LLC so I'm not able to overclock as high as I would with a Taichi.

I have a chip that can do 4.0 on first gen but I can only get 3.85 on my board due to vdroop and no llc.

The MSI was doing 4.3 on the 2600x..was Awesome. But yeah Hopefully I can get another chip.

unless you have a pressing need it may be better to wait until details on the 570/550 boards come out. the jump from 7 to 15 w with the 5X0 chipsets may mean that the 16c/32t ryzen wont be backwards compatible with 3X0 or 4X0 .

Well I went ahead and ordered the X470 Taichi, on sale at newegg.

@gorobei you bring up a good point, but since my main use is gaming, I would probably stick with a faster 8 core as opposed to a 12 or 16 core CPU. I am hoping that this time the 7nm process will allow for some good overclocks on an 8 core. All I really need for a while, and probably wouldn't consider anything more than a 10 core for a long time, since some old games don't like more than 20 threads so I hear.

The 7700k has more Peak Frames though than that 2600x. Not lying...not surprising when it can easily be overclocked to 4.7-5ghz...

ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming is same price to Asrock X470 Taichi, but overclocks better and the X470-F is awesome board because it can go up to 3600Mhz memory!

I read that the Asus board lineup uses a 256MB BIOS as opposed to the more common 128MB BIOS found on other lineups, so they can better accommodate an updated chip. It's probably market speak for a feature that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but at least worth mentioning.

I went into my build with a very low budget ($200 for CPU & board), and was eyeing a B450/2600 combo, but the more I debated on the parts, the higher the budget crept. I ended up adding an NVMe and stepping up both the board and the CPU to the next step up the speed ladder. I figure the 2600x could be swapped out for the newer Ryzen chips and used in my HTPC.
