Which AMD cpu is the coolest running?

I don't need a great deal of power, but I do need some cool cpus for some small cases for desktops.

Edit: I suppose it doesn't have to be amd.

Look at some Semprons. Very low power consumption and heat dissipation. Use a Sempron with a cheap 754 board that has integrated everything and you've got a real nice desktop machine.

My 2800 doesn't use the cpu fan. It stays off over 90% of the time with cool and quiet enabled.

Maybe look at one of the microATX radeon boards, ECS, Jetway, and MSI all have one out. You'd get the best integrated graphics available (still bad compared to a discrete solution though), and your microATX board. You could combine that with a cheap Sempron, and you're off to the races.

Turion 25 watt ???? Not sure the model numbers. Might work with a passive hsf with a good 120 mm case fan.

I was thinking of these, but I didn't know which motherboards and bios they'd be compatible with. I think they'd manage quite will with the half-height cases.

I just wish the Turion didn't command such premium prices.

I just did a search at newegg on their motherboards for any that uses the "cpu type:" of Turion. There is no such selection option in the drop-down list.

Another EDIT: Someone posted a comment about his Turion Mobile and his advice seems good. Get a venice and undervolt it. No compatibility issues and it's cheap and still runs cool. I like cheap AND cool.

Yes, you're right; I did ask for the coolest. Of the coolest processors posted in reply to my thread I had planned to opt for the cheapest. IOW, if the MT-30 were $500, I wouldn't care how cool it ran... unless it could double as a small air conditioner. I suppose I should have asked for the coolest running and cheapest IOOP cost. In either case, I appreciate all the replies, and thanks.

How many watts would the sempron 64 2600+ use?

I believe they are 62 watts. However, you can get special mobile semprons that use 25 watts just like the Turion. they come in 3300+, 3100+, 3000+, 2800+, and 2600+ speeds. However probably after the price premium, an MT-30 Turion would probably be a better deal.

A quick note, Semprons below....2800+ or 3000+(can't remember which) do not feature cool and quiet, so on average they will run hotter than cpus that do, but at max speed they would run cooler.
