The PowerColor PCS+ or the Vapor-X but but the price gets too close to the TriX 290x to justify....Unless your into rebates.

Sapphire Vapor-X 290 OC. It was ~$450 last week. It's $470 now. If it goes any lower than $440, that's the card I will jump on immediately. With AMD's "new flagship" coming out this summer, I wouldn't be surprised if it drops to $400.

Hmm, if the Sapphire 290 drops to anywhere near $400-$410 I'd buy it also.

Now I'm reconsidering if I should even buy the 290x... Everyone seems to agree there's little difference.

I had a R290, and it was DOA . Tried to make it work every possible way, but i didnt. Made me waste lost of time trying to replace or refund.
specially the early reference R290's had lots of problems, i hope that the situation is better now.

I didn't say there was no truly DOA cards. Just showing that sometimes it's just the users rig, pilot error, non compatible hardware, or a simple MB uEFI/bios update and not the card.

I guess your referring to your black screen of death thread to prove your card was DOA?

Many things can cause the black screen of death issue. For me at times while mining all it took was opening or closing gpu-z, overclocking the memory too high while making Heaven or Valley runs, etc.

My card was DOA , and service diagnosed it as DOA . So it was the card, and first batches of R290 were plauged by these problems. I don't know the situation now, but i hope its solved by now. I m gonna buy another one and dont want to go trought that RMA process, it took months.
