(mods please dont move)

This is to see definitively which AV software *gamers* are actually using. I traditionally used AVG free but lately they have added this Zen thing which I don't like, so now I am trying Bitdefender free. Only had it for a couple days and it already annoyed me once when it blocked by volume.exe hotkey that i use so I can adjust windows volume while in-game. I was able to unblock it, but the lack of configuration here is a bit unsettling.

I found AVG free and Avast free weren't quite doing it for me, so since I'm using Comcast, I installed Norton, as it is free with Comcast. It's been doing a good job.

Emsisoft internet security. The behaviour blocker usually throws up a pop-up or two when running a new game. Like other AV's it also has a gaming mode but I haven't found it necessary so far. I don't like the firewall because it doesn't allow me to see what's going on. For that reason I will probably go back to Emisoft anti-malware or Avira free when my sub expires.

I use malwarebytes. I remove virus's for a living and most Antivirus to date don't really do a great job. Some that do are pretty heavy in resrouces. So low end computers that are already slow are even slower. Norton seems to be pretty light weight as of late and we have some repeat customers that I have put it on and it seems to be holding up with there browsing habbits.

Believe it or not, I dont use any. I dont click on banners, I dont click on emails I dont know, I dont surf porn, and I dont install pirated games, and for years I havent gotten a single one, and on the off chance I did, it gave me an excuse to flush my system out and re-do it which at that time its well needed and running slow anyway. I stick with the places I know, and trust, and if I hear of new ones I google on them and check them out before I go to them. Its worked for me, and Im quite happy with how it works out, IMO.

I do however run a anti key logger, zone alarm, and vpn. Zone alarm offers a Antivirus but I dont have it installed.

None. You don't need one. Its called common sense. MSE is fine, your fingers do the rest.

ESET NOD 32 Anti-Virus Not their Smart Security. Works great, low in resources... I usually use a combo of ESET online scanner, with Malwarebytes to remove viruses... along with ADW Cleaner and Kaspersky TDSS Killer..

I have been using Norton since 2009, and it's never let me down. Very lightweight, and has excellent protection..

I supplement it with Malwarebytes just to be safe though. I've also tried Bitdefender 2015, and I found it to have far too heavy of a footprint.

There is no free Norton though I think, so you have to pay.

It really depends on your computing habits. If you visit torrent and porn sites for instance, then having an A/V solution is wise.

It comes for free for Comcast users, though it is part of a paid subscription, so I guess you pay in one way or another.

Once you have a good AV, you will be shocked to find how often warez/pirated games are loaded with trojans, malware, keyloggers etc...

Saying that, I've been fine with MSE.

I only use MSE now. The only thing A/V has ever flagged for me is trainers from legit sites on occasion. By using common sense and not clicking on anything stupid I have been clear for about 16 years now. I have a short list of a certain type of site I use that I know to be safe.

Basically just use your head and do not click on any pop-up or download random stuff. I especially hate the ones that show up when you try to close a window. You have to manually end the process.

Nothing. Haven't had a problem in 20 years. Do or have done all the bad stuff too.

none usually specially after the nightmare that was Norton 360; I'll install adaware; malwarebytes; for alittle while to test while having MSE.

Only viruses I end up with is ones my kids end up getting because they don't realize yet not to click on crap. They are all on their own standard accounts; so worse case I nuke their account and rebuild their account and not the machine

Not getting a virus is easy these days....*helps staying away from the truly dredge part of the internet*

MSE has been fine. Mostly low risk surfing. Haven't had a virus in years. However, I've got an eight year old just starting to get online...

None other than the built in MS stuff only one problem in the last 5 years. I've found antivirus tends to screw up the machine more often than viruses.

I've been using MSE since it came out and have never found a need to change. Some of my computers have no AV. Between the modified HOSTS file, VPN, browser plugins, and overall common sense... seems like you don't need much else. To date, I have never had a virus or malware on a single one of my computers... unless you count Windows 10. XD

The impact of AV on gaming is small enough to be insignificant, so I just don't worry about it.
