ok soooo many to choose from...

i'm only interested in oc'ing the cpu as high as i can (which will probly be the 2600K). i'd like 4.8-5.0 range. hope the beefy hsf will fit. 1 vid card. don't really care about the other bells and whistles.

do i want the vanilla? pro? deluxe? M? M pro? gahhhh... i'm thinking vanilla or pro will cut it.

thanks for input.

vanilla, with an m if you think you might go to a smaller case while still using the same core system.

The main diffence between vanilla and pro is the ability to SLI on the pro (plus an extra pci-e 2.0 slot and an extra esata connection).

So if you think you might want to go SLI in the future, then you would want the pro. Both support crossfire. Both have the same power phases.

If price is no object, then you may consider the deluxe as it has a greater number of power phases which = lower load = increased longevity of the board - most especially when overclocking. Though as far as I know the difference between 12+2 and 16+2 is all theoretical at the moment.

I had the P8P67 and I had some issues with the LAN connection. The Pro and up have Intel LAN whereas the vanilla has a realtek. It would randomly drop the connection and I would have to repair the connection for it to come back on line. Since moving to the sabertooth I've had no such issues. I remember reading someone else having similar problems, but this is also pre-B3 too.

Holy crap! The system I built for my wife with pre-B3 P8P67 (vanilla) also has this problem. I ended up tossing a PCIe NIC in there that I had sitting around as a spare.

I haven't swapped it out yet, but now I really want to upgrade it to Pro or higher.

regarding realtek lan issues: i've had this symptom on multiple boards. remember to disable all "green" "power saving" functions for that device in both bios and windows. (i also disable "wake on lan" "ping" "pulse" functions just to be safe. it seems all this crap is enabled by default in realtek onboard lan stuff.)

Strange. I've used Realtek NICs on dozens of other boards and this is the first one with the problem. Oh well, problem no longer. Paid the difference for a B3 Pro with Intel NIC.
