I was a sailor for 10 years... I drank more than most of the US general population for 10 years straight...

I just hate the taste of beer..
and other stuff...
Still like the effect...

I like drinks that dont taste like alcohol but sneak up on your ass....
like redbull and a good vodka..
cant taste the booze..

I'm not convinced of that and even if I were would it matter? I think guinness was like the 3rd beer I tried and I loved it. When we're kids we generally don't like bitter tasting foods or the taste of alcohol but as adults some people grow to really appreciate the flavors of beer, wine, mead, scotch, or a tart dessert.

OP what do you consider to be a sweetened beer? I cant think of any beer that is sweetened right off hand other than some lambics which I doubt you've had.

Personally I love a good stout or something belgian. Fantome saison is one of my favorites.

well, sweetened beers that come to mind include lambics, left-hand milk stout (they add lactose as a sweetner; although it isn't that sweet and is actually delicious) I've also had beers brewed with maple syrup, or vanilla, maple (the wood itself used to flavor). These are sweet, but the differences are vast. The beer made with maple syrup was Samuel Adams Triple Bock which was terrible, the others were quite good. Like Dogfish Head Immort Ale I couldn't have more than one or two, but it does taste good.


beers I hate include most light beers although Sam Light is palatable, corona, most fruit beers, but there are exceptions (Sam Adams Cherry Wheat). Heinikin, Hofbrau Oktoberfest, the list goes on, I've tried over 200 beers so I hate quite a few

I would say keystone, but its a decent in a can and cheaper than hell. Drank about 10 barrels as a teenager...

I like beer, but these are some of my least favs:

Pabst
Miller High Life
Schlitz
Hamms
Pearl
Bud Ice
Most anything that says "nut brown ale"
Most "creme" beers
Most stouts, especially oatmeal stouts

Never crazy about lemonades, ciders, or trendy malts like Barcardi Silver, Smirnoff Ice, Xima, etc

Anything called "Pale Ale". I hate the hoppy flavor. I can tolerate most other beers though, so rather than say "hate" I would usually just say "rather be drinking something else".

I'm not a fan of beer (although Guinness is all right), but the Saranac beer they had after the Boilermaker road race was horrible. Could barely finish one cup. I think Keystone Light was better. I hear their Black Forest or Black and Tan is better though.

FWIW, I'm drinking an Old Milwaukie right now and it's not too bad. Maybe cause it's in a can (all beverages taste better in a can to me)
