Hoping to pick up a propane grill in the next week or two and have been eying the different low-mid level models/brands over at Home Depot and Lowes.

Weber - Seems pricy, but well made. Easily 4x the price of the others
Charbroil - $100-$200 for 2-3 burners
Masterforge - $150 for 4 burners
Brinkman - $100-$200 for 2-3 burners

Which brand to you prefer?

Get the one that seems like it will last forever.

And for no real reason you might get a more informed crew in The Garage.

The Weber is built in the US and will last forever. The others will rust out in two years.

Actually, I think im gonna have to take Weber out of the running myself. The good size propane models START at $400+.

Its Florida, everything is gonna rust

I'm very happy with my Weber kettle, but that's charcoal.
I haven't seen the need for a gas grill yet.

check out costco. they have massive stainless steel jobbies. they look like sacrificial alters of some sort.

Weber - if you can afford it

I've been through 4 propane grills. #4 is a Weber and has outlasted the others and nothing has broken on it in 4yrs.

Our Kenmore grill was pretty good but it rusted out after 3yrs. The cheapo Charbroil are complete crap.

I've had my two burner CharBroil for five years. Last year I had to replace the burner and the drip guard over the burner because they rusted out. I thought 4 years was reasonable for a $40 fix.

Also, when cooking for two it is perfect. When you load up the grill the variability between hot spots and cool spots become problematic because there are only two burners.

How many people are in your family that you will be grilling for on average? I was in your position early this summer and ended up (after much research and anguish) buying this one:

Weber Q320.

Even though it is still pricey, it was much cheaper than the big stainless Webers. I only have a family of 3 (my wife and 1 son) so this is plenty of grill for us (I have not had any problems even when grilling for 8 or more people). I find that for us, it is just the right size. The legs of the stand are ABS plastic and the kettle "clamshell" is cast aluminum, so it should last a LONG time (not much on this can rust).

I first bought the small "baby-q" Q100 for use in my pop-up camper. That worked SO well (I love it) that it influenced my decision to get the "big brother" Q320. After 1 full summer of grilling, I have no regrets.

Go for a Weber. I picked up a Genesis and it works great. Every other grill i've had either doesn't get hot enough or rusts out. I believe the Brinkman was rated a best buy in some magazine...not sure how it would hold up over time though.

Well I'll vote for cheap one that you can just replace whenever it rusts. At the end of the season (although florida might not have an end) you can get the others really cheap.

Go through 4 of them for the price of one weber, which will require replacement parts anyway.

The Brinkman is really not bad for the money. The one I have has held up well over the past 3 years in humidity conditions somewhat close to yours (Tennessee). Granted I do have a Weber for when I want to do some charcoal grilling.

i did my research this past summer and wound up with a weber genesis 310 from lowe's (used the 10% off coupon).

it's well worth the money. taken care of, it should last 25+ years. i think the shortest warranty on any of the parts is 5 years. the thing is a tank. no plastic, heavy, heavy firebox, cast iron grates > *. well worth every penny.

Another vote for the Weber Q320! It is our first and only BBQ grill so I do not have anything to compare it against, but its very convenient for grilling on those weeknights after work.

the other option is to buy a used weber and refurb it. you can usually pick one up for < $100. you might need grates and burners, but those aren't that expensive. you can have a refurb'd weber for about the same price
