Hi, I am searching for a case to build my new system. The case doesn't need to have a good p/s as I already bought a thermaltake 420w p/s. The case I wanted should be roomy, with good air flows/ good cooling, doesn't have to fancy looking.... I've done some researches, and finally came up with a few choices, could u guys give me some advices on which of these I should get? If u have a recommendation other than the ones I've came up with, please let me know. My budget is around $60 to $70. Thanks for the help

1,evercase

http://www.newegg.com/app/View......-127-053&depa=1

2,maxtop

http://www.newegg.com/app/View......-150-049&depa=1

3,lite on

http://www.newegg.com/app/View......-128-105&depa=1

4,aspire x-dream 2

http://www.newegg.com/app/View......-144-026&depa=1

5, aspire x-infinity

http://www.newegg.com/app/View......-144-077&depa=1

I am kind of leaning between maxtop and x-dreamer 2. x-infinity is also a possibility. What do u guys think?

Also, I was wondering, which fan would be more quieter in the case, a 120mm fan or a 80mm fan? Thanks

links don't work, and the x-dreamer 2 is the cheapest piece of crap around. not sure about the x-infinity.

Read the article on tomshardware.com on it.

it sounds like u don't really like the x-dream 2 as u called it a piece of crap, but according to the reviews from newegg, seems like many people liked it alot..... Can I ask u why u said that? Thanks

The Evercase is very popular with the silent pc community. It has good airflow (the front bezel is actually vented on the sides I think) and has room for 120mm exhaust and probably 120mm intake with mods. You can use the side panel vents to make ducts, throw in a few fan controllers and make a very quiet rig for cheap. If you're not into quiet it's good to get a case like this because good ventilation means you can throw a lot of heat into the case and still make things work (if you're into o/c). I don't like some of the other cases because it's hard to see where the front intake will come from or it's very limited front intake.

Just IMO.

I am liking this case personally. Then again, i like the clean cut, finished look with a high quality product. Personally, some of those cases seem bling bling to me and cheap... but then again, its my personal opinion. Plus, the case i showed you comes with an excellent power supply valued alone at 75 dollars... its a great case thats been used far and wide and is trustworthy. IF you are looking for silence as i am you can take my route: water cooling, or air cool with Silenx fans, found on www.silenx.com... none of them go above 14 dba.

Its up to you though.

The Evercase is a very popular case.
Here is another.....Compucase LX-6A19
Coolcases.com sells them with a pair of Globe fans and a quality HEC 300W PS for a little more.
Here's a link to the mods Coolcases.com does with this one......coolcases.com

As to your question about fan size...the 80mm fan will definately be quieter than a 120mm one. It won't blow as much air though. With a case like the Evercase, you could mount a 120mm rear on a controller without a front fan (quietest) or if necessary, mount an 80mm Panaflo L1A (or similar quiet fan) up front to cool your hard drive.

BTW- don't believe it when you see a claim that a fan only produces 14dba....
While I have seen that folks are saying that SilenX fans are pretty good, noone will verify 14dba.

the x-infinity is a good case. alot of room. kinda flimsy though. and power supply kinda stinks. alot of airflow. but i dont like how it has the power/reset headphone/usb ports on the top.

Probably not....Looks like the standard for el cheapo cases IMHO.
If you notice the fan punch-outs you'll see that no consideration for cooling was made. It would need a lot of mods to be passable.

The Compucase LX-619 is hte same as this http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=11-129-140&depa=1 wich I use and it is a great, tried and proven case w/ good features.
Only thing I did was replace the PSU w/ a more powerful NeoPower 480W and 2 x Antec Pro 120mm dual BB fans.Cools great & is silent and looks handsome to boot!
I'm not a fan of the gimmicky, flashy disco cases.Spend your money on quality and performance.

umm to bad you alread bought powersupply. if you can return it, here is my recomendation. Go to pricewatch.com and look in the case section. For $33 you can have a nice roomy case with 550watts powersupply, and they are good looking trust me. Check it out.

Oh yeah,a good looking power supply is very imporatant indeed

But I agree that OP shold have probably opted for a better quality/reputation PSU than Thermaltake.
Best bets are Antec,Enermax,Fortron,PC Power&Cooling,OCZ

Agreed.

IMHO I wouldn't even look at any reviews you see on NEWEGG. They are all filtered to remove the negative reviews. Actually, there is a disclaimer right on their site that states this. Remember, NEWEGG's primary goal is to sell as much as possible.

You'll get honest answers in forums like this where members have nothing to gain or lose by posting a good or bad opinion.

ROFL!

Sure, let's just skimp on the foundation both physically and electrically for the entire case! That's an awesome idea! Furthermore, let's buy from the lowest common denominator, and rate PSUs only on the side of the numbers! My Honda Civic makes 325hp thanks to intake mods! Whee!

If the Sonatas are still on sale at your local Fry's, go pick one up and drop in a pair of 120mm fans.

The thermaltake power supply I bought isn't that bad, is it? I am in New York, there is no Fry's on the east coast.... right now, I am still leaning between the ever case and the maxtop.

Thanks

I have built many PC's with Evercase cases. Those things are solid as hell too. You will not be disappointed. Don't let the cheap price fool you. Just toss out the power supply that comes with the case.
