Which cheap 1150 board?

Good luck. Curious to hear what you think of the G3220.

I came up with a few questions, just so I can cause myself more stress while I wait for the stuff to ship. Heh.

1. The G3220 is only rated up to DDR3-1333, while the RAM I ordered is 1600. Will it just run at the lower speed, or will it cause the Earth to collapse into a black hole?

2. Does the G3220 overclock well? I probably won't do it, but just curious.

3. How would the G3220's built-in video compare with my GTS 250?

4. Would a 7790 be a good pound-for-pound upgrade when I get the $ (probably in a month or so)? Or would I be bottlenecked by the CPU?

5. If you could sell dehydrated velociraptors which came to life when dropped into water, would they sell well or poorly?

1. I'd be surprised if the mobo doesn't have the capability to run the memory at 1600, but if not, it won't be a problem running DDR3 1600 at 1333.

2. To my knowledge you're restricted to FSB overclock with that chip and it doesn't seem like these newer chipsets lend well to FSB overclock like in the P45/P35 days I'm used to. So I think OC would be minimal but I'll let someone else more familiar with locked Haswells chime in.

3. While the GTS 250 is dated, it should outperform the built in graphics.

4. 7790 should outperform the GTS 250 by quite a bit as well.

The mobo can run at 1600 but the cpu is limited to 1333. So the memory will run at 1333. The Pentium 3240 has the memory controller for 1600/1333 but costs more.
Bottlenecking the 7790 would be dependent upon the games and settings you play at but for everyday use, highly doubt it.
