First of all my compnenets:
Asus A7V
AMD Athlon TBird 900mhz
768 mb Crucial SDRAM PC 133
IBM 133 ATA 40gb HD
Plextor 8x cd burner
Toshiba 52x DVD drive
Creative Labs Geforce 2
SB Live

Here's my story. One day the power went out or soemthing and the comp wouldn't send any signals to the monitor. I also noticed that it wasn't giving any of the components connected to the USB any power. SO I figured the Mobo was dead. Went out today to buy a KS5a Pro from Frys and a new Heatsink/Fan. Took out the old mobo and everything. Put in the new mobo, check for any extra place holders for the mobo and there were none. Hooked evyerhting up, hit the power button, and it booted into! Great. Now I shut it off, connected the keyboard and mouse, booted it againa nd went into bios. Changed settings to optimal performance saved and let it reboot. But it never did... The monitor hung again!! So I rehooked the power to the mobo, restarted the monitor, reseated the GF2. It loads again. This time I didn't touch the bios. BSOD. Restart and monitor hangs. About to pull out my hair, I switch parts with my new comp. I first tried the Vid card, no signal. Then tried the PSU, no signal. Then tried taking out sb live, no signal. Tried moving the pci cards, no signal. Then I switched to DDR ram, no signal. The only 2 things I haven't tried was the CPU and HD. I'm thinking its the CPU and am going to pick up a cheap athlon XP tomorrow. What do you guys think? When the monitor hangs it says OVERRIDE on the screen. And as the HD is loading stuff and what not the screen flashes somewhat but with the words override. Also, sometimes (well all the time except like once they worked together) the mouse and kyboard gets no power from the USB and the PS/2 connections. Please help!!

My guess is cpu or HD. Most likely cpu. If you're able to, try testing all the parts in another computer to eliminate them as sources of problems 100%.

you expect to just drop in a Via optimized harddrive into a SIS based mobo..and launch straight out like it is nothing...? optimized settings is not what you should set the BIOS at on second boot neither..default(tweaked for your stuff..like USB enabled..) would have been more like it..and there is a 100/133 setting in there as well...good luck

Could it be your monitor or cable has gone bad? Try swapping that out if you can.

Also the HD was freshly format with NO via drivers installed etc. Just WINXP on it.

WinXP not an easy OS to move from one mobo to another..even if you just do a quick minimal install and shut it down without loading other drivers it will still know what mobo it was originally from...as possibly noted by that BSOD earlier...I would strip this down to just the mobo,a single stick of known good quality ram, a vid card(AGP) and a known good psu ...all outside of a case...then try to get a BIOS screen again..

I tried that also. I only plugged in the Vid card, Cpu, Hs/F. No siganls. I thought it didnt have enough power from the PSU at first so I unplugged everything event he cd drives, floppy, case fans. Still doesn't send any signals or what not.

Tried clearing the CMOS? Going for optomized settings on a K7S5A sounds to me like RAM, though the CPU could still be it (or the HD). Also try having only a single stick of RAM.
768MB sounds like 512 + 256, right? Try just the 512MB. Mixing RAM sometimes works fine, other times is Hell. I know they are both crucial and all, but still...

Well just tried the new CPU. No go!! Bah. Well I wuld think its the hd but it didn't even owrk on the old mobo which it has worked with for years. And I tried unplugging the HD and it still wouldn't boot up.. Tried the single ram and diff slots for the ram. I mean what the hell!

You should check your power supply. Try this: unplug the power cord, hold the power button pressed and plug the power cord back.
