Which computer with processor - E6600 dual core or G630 should I give to family?

Got two Lenovo computers laying around. Going to give one of them to family and sell the other. One computer has a E6600 dual core processor and the other a computer, a year newer, with a a G630. All the other computer specs are basically the same.

I'm leaning towards giving the computer with the G630 away. Looks like the chip is faster plus it has intergrated graphics. Any other differences?

G630 is faster than the E6600 (be it the wolfdale Pentium or the Conroe Core 2 Duo), also the IGP from the G630 is a bit faster than the older IGPs from LGA 775, and the G630 uses a 1155 motherboard, so it's probably easier to upgrade/find parts for repair.

Agreed, definitely keep the G630.

You can probably sell the G630 for more money. If the IGP in the G630 is not enough, then I would just sell it, keep the E6600, and use the added funds to pick up a 4770 or similar off ebay.

The Dell All-in-One I got for my parents about a month and a half ago has a G630 in it. It was an upgrade from an E6400 @ stock with a nvidia 7300GT and we're all very pleased. The IGP has no problems running flash video, flash games, and even Blu Ray content on the 1080p screen. The G630 is without a doubt faster, whether you want to sell it or give it to your folks is up to you.

You love your folks, don't you? Give them the better PC, give them the G630.

I also disagree that the G630 would necessarily fetch that much more money if you sold it. I bought a G630 Gateway slimline system at Staples for $300 - $100 coupon = $200 + tax.

Sell the old C2D, get what you can for it, and maybe get an SSD or cheap discrete video card for your G630 for your folks.

I upgraded my G630 with a half-height GT430 card I picked up for $50 on clearance at BestBuy, and a 120GB Vertex Plus R2 SSD I got from 1saleaday for $65.

Well worth it. It sips power too, which is nice.

G630 to family, E6600 as an emergency backup computer, most likely for when software goes rogue on the family PC.
