The NV560 chipset looks to be a good way to suck the overclock out of your CPU and Ram , I hope NV got there act together and put together a chipset that can pull off high FSB
Im not sure wich one.. but Ill make it COLD!!!!!

btw..
"E6300 @ 1.86GHz ...Laugh all you want wait till I phase change cool this sucker!"
that made me ROFLMAO!!
side note.. some of these chips are going to max out the FSB with there multiplyer.. like that one so supercold isnt going to help sadly

Interestingly enough, he posted the exact same thing on another forum i frequent.

Complete with his pro-Conroe blog link in sig...

Both forums he's new to too...very interesting.
Could be.
Certainly seems a huge Intel fanboi judging by his post.

Anyway, I'm keeping my rock solid 939 Opteron 170.
No need to change a perfectly good system imo.

Do you think it's possible he is just trying to get a feel for which Conroe most people will go after?

Why, the answer is simple, throw an evaporator on the northbridge...

Sure, he is.
But as someone mentioned on a nother forum, if he is indeed working with Intel on some level, guess what CPU's price is gonna go way up when they see the results of the poll...

But if you read his "blog" & you see how he's posted the exact same thing on a couple different forums with a new account, it made me start to wonder.
Maybe i'm just suspicious, but doesn't that seen a tad too dedicated?

Yes, it's definately a conspiracy by Intel to perpetrate some new price gouging scheme. Intel can't undertsand the market so they send someone to AT to accertain Conroe demand.

I'm hoping to build a another rig August/September so not sure what I'll be going with. I'll have to wait and see whats hot and whats not at that time. Nice thing about my situation is that by the time I'm ready supplies should be plentiful and early adopters will have figured out whats good and what isnt and how far the procs can be pushed. Hopefully prices will be a little cheaper too.

I think that Conroe is over hyped. All the nerds drooled over it couple a months ago. Then some realistic benchmarks were released and then it came clear that Conroe is not the AMD killer many have said it would be.

So I guess I´m going with an AMD because they will slash prices so it will offer the best value for money. I don´t think I can wait longer until 1st August, so by then the best bargain available will probably be AMD. Heck, even NOW dual core 3800 (tray), socket 939 retails for less than 190 euros in Germany, where I buy my stuff.

I have never owned an AMD before and my Intels have been nice and worked flawlessly, so I´m just buying what will offer the best value. I would have use for as many cores I could have, but quad cores systems won´t be mainstream until 4x4 is released, and I don´t think I can wait so long.

Greco, be very careful with the 3800+. You have to make sure it's an X2 or you could end up getting a single-core 3800+.

Probably E6400, budget is rather tight and I decided to put the 100$ saved into a 7900GT.

Wish it was that simple.. the motherboards just cant handle enough FSB. The PPL and the traces dont hold up in most of them
There are rumors of 600 FSB out of a few of the boards though :Q

Im waiting for quad.

By then parallel software should be common enough for it to be worth it... As well as Vista to take better advantage of it.

Id get conroe if i had spare cash to put a system together though.

All of the benchmarks have been consistant from official sites like anandtech...

Even the boys over xtremesystems have shown us that the numbers are real.

Conroe is substantially faster than the similar priced X-2 (before these up and coming price cuts).

I won't be buying a Conroe. GTL+ has no expandability, and Intel changes sockets and chipsets more than they change their underwear. I mean look at the fact that conroe is supported on S775, but the last 3 or 4 chipsets don't.
