Which console for the GF.....

She actually loves shooter, buts has already gotten tired of our xbox360. She plays their xbox arcade more than regular games, which to me seems like a waste of a system. We get more enjoyment playing worms 3 than the last game we bought (rainbow six 2)

I'm thinking i should get her a wii. she loves the idea of the wii fit and similar games. She also expressed interest in the ps3 based on graphics alone. I think she'll get tired of the ps3 quicker.

What would you buy for you SO?

If you've already got a 360 and she is looking for something different, I'd suggest the Wii. The 360 and PS3 are pretty much the same with a few exceptions.

I'm raising a girl who is not typical. My 13 year old daughter loves fighting games so she loves many games she has gotten a chance to play on the Xbox 360 at her cousins house, and now my PS3 too. That being said I got her a Wii for Christmas last year and she loves her Wii games too! Tennis, Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart...

The 360 has more shooters available than any other console. If she's tired of that, then the only better place to look is the PC.

There is nothing wrong with the downloadable games. I've been having more fun playing games off of PSN and XBLA lately than actual full retail titles. PixelJunk Eden, PixelJunk Monster, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Puzzle Quest, etc.

PSN actually has a lot of awesome downloadable games for it so if she's into that I would roll with it.

Even though your GF is actually tired of the 360 and XBLA, that's what my wife has played the most (I have all 3 systems). Actually, my wife plays her DS more than anything. But I think you're are correct that your GF would likely enjoy the Wii more than a PS3.

Get a PS3, it is the best graphically, and will eventually sell 100 million so will have the best games.

Or wait for Viva Pinata 2 in September. Supposed to be a nice upgrade over the original plus 4-player co-op. Though the original is still very fun.

Even the Wii is kind of lacking in the games department. Super Mario Galaxy, maybe Zelda, Super Mario Strikers, Mario Kart. Aside from that what other games would she be interested in? The Gamecube has similar titles and nowadays that's a $25 machine. Does she have a DS?

Yeah, every time I go to stores and look at the Wii titles, I shake my head. Sure, I'm an old fart but have a decent amount of gaming experience and most of what I see looks like junk, even if it isn't my genre. You about hit the Wii titles on the head that are any good:

Wii Sports
Super Mario Galaxy
Mario Kart
Paper Mario
Zelda: Twilight Princess

and maybe a couple others

As for the Play Station 3 and the Xbox360, look at the titles available and decide if those have as many or more games you think your g/f would like. If you have a hi def TV, both of those systems will look much better than the Wii or older gaming systems.
