The fact that you're trying to apply that quote in regard to some of these companies makes you sound incredibly foolish. We're not talking about companies being evil because they're making large profits or not being socially or enviornmentaly conscious or any other foolish reason like that. We're talking about companies with flat out unethical business practices. Being a cheat is not defensible no matter what group you're part of or how you try to spin it.

Most of these companies are more Allied Steel than they are Rearden Steel. At least in the sense that's being discussed here. I know you love Any Rand and I can't blame you there but think about how you're trying to apply her words and what she actually meant.

i love almost all the companies listed....why do people hate them? they supply good products and employ lots of people ...sure they may put a couple mom and pop shops out of business but thats the way our economy works...its the publics own damn fault for choosing to shop at walmart or whever more than mom&pop

Corporations, just like the governments that create them, are legal fictions. They are only capable of possessing a human quality like good or evil because they are comprised of human beings, and for no other reason. Picking one to call "the greatest Evil known to mankind" is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever read on ATOT, and that's saying a lot. Mysticism, it seems, dies hard, even among people who claim to be atheistic. In the meantime, why don't one of you get back to me when a corporation, some supposed "the greatest Evil known to mankind," kills even a thousandth as many people as any single government has.
