Well, those are both the same cpu. BTW, integrated is always better, its why an amd (integrated into chip) at 2.4 ghz beats an intel (800 mhz fsb) at 3.4 ghz.

Strange. I can't seem to find any differences besides the part numbers (AXBOX vs just BOX).

Both the chips have integrated memory controllers, thus neither actually has a traditional FSB.

939 socket?

edit: I see the Venice is 939 mmm would need to find a new mobo now... any recomendation that is below 100$

I did like MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum, but unfortunately it has no AGP slot and i can't afford right now a new video card, plus not looking to play video games with this computer.

yep, far better upgrade path. By the time your ready for a new cpu the price of a X2 dual core will be more affordable. The Vencie 3000+ is a awesome overclocking chip that if you pair with one of the top OC motherboards will give you 2.5 easy. Cost me about 230 shipped for my epox and 3000+ from zipzoomfly. Which probably isnt much more than your planning on. I was thinkin 754 sempy but its worth the extra few bucks.

X2 is the newest AMD chip. It has dual cores. Not really implemented in gaming yet but good for multitasking.

I can recomend this board, if you must stick with AGP (you already have an agp video card).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813152053

Its been out for quite a while, but its a very solid board for the price. Epox also makes a good board for under $100, but my friend has had problems with his, so I can't recomend it for that reason. Also, I definantly support getting a 3000+ Venice. http://home.earthlink.net/~eckyx3/AHAHA%20FOOLS/venice2.JPG I believe my results are a bit above average, but nearly all 3000+ chips can make it to 2.7ghz with 1.5-1.55v.

3000+ Venice and a solid 939 overclocking board and you cant go wrong. Loved my board at first but its been givin me a few probs now. DFI or Neo2 would be good choices.

The Abit AV8 like i have can be had for about $100, It has an AGP slot and uses the Via Pro chipset instead of the NF3 chipset. The only negative of the board is some have shown pblms with high HTT Overclocks, Above 268 HTT speed, so with the 9x multi of a 3000+ Venice you may be limiting your OC to 2.4 GHz with this board. But 33% above the stock 1.8Ghz isn't that bad, and you are quaranteed to get that with this board, some of had pblms pushing it into the 2.5-2.6 range.

I wouldnt limit yourself with the Abit. Go with the epox, msi or dfi nforce3 boards. That way you can slap it right up to 2.4 and if you want theres still more room to OC.

Venice adds SSE3 instructions and an improved memory controller that allows for 4 sticks of RAM to be run at DDR400 instead of DDR333...that's about it...

Jnetty: 754 socket only runs single channel memory. 939 runs dual channel, and will accept Dual core, FX, and standard A64 939 chips.

I did this same setup with the Asus A8V Deluxe. It came down to this board and the Abit but I didn't like the layout of the Abit as much. Sorry no OC results yet but my research indicated that this board is fine in that department.
