Which CPU is better?

Hello guys! I'm trying to search on some CPUs and hopefully I will be able to build my 1st gaming rig at the end of June. So far these two CPUs are getting much of my attention:

Intel CORE i7 3770K

Processor: Intel Core i7
CPU Number: 3770K
Processor Speed: 3.50GHz
Cache: 8MB
Price: $359.00

Intel Core i7 3820

Processor: Intel Core i7
CPU Number: 3820
Processor Speed: 3.60GHz
Cache: 10MB
Price: $339.00

Help me decide guys! Your insights will really be appreciated.

3820 is a s2011 and as such will be more expensive in to build a system with.

that said, do you plan to overclock? if ya do the 3770k would be a better choice and as far as gaming goes, the 3570k would be better as HT really doesn't come into play for games much.

In the end of June? You should buy an i5 4670K or i7 4770K instead with a Z87 LGA1150 board.

This makes sense to me.

But if you do go wiht a 3770K, $359 is a terrible price point right now. Microcenter has it for $229, if you have one nearby.

if ya look at the links, he appears to be in Australia so no microcenters are available.

Only USA/Canada has dirt cheap hardware, the rest of the world have it worse because of VAT. Having that said Australia has it mild with 10% VAT tax rate, I need to pay my thievish country 23% VAT TAX. Anything is almost 1/4 more expensive, that is ridiculous, but it is what it is. So I guess that price is nothing out of ordinary in Australia. MSRP is 332$ + 10% that is 365$ so it's actually below MSRP. Unless I'm mistaken and Aussies can avoid paying VAT somehow.

I consider hardware here in Denmark to be dirt cheap.

You cant just take the price and conclude it like that.

Its like saying you got expensive food, because in x country you can get a meal for 5 cents.

I meant in absolute terms not relative. I also heard that your cars are also dirt cheap.

the 3770K makes more sense (cheaper MBs, better performance/OC, lower power usage) but,
with the 3820 you have the possibility of buying a 3930K or 6 core ivy-e later keeping your lga 2011 MB... the 3770K is the best you will ever get for your lga 1155 motherboard.

Haswell launches in a few days/weeks so asking that question isn't wise considering that you're going to buy at the end of June. Sure we can answer but it won't be the best option when you will be buying.

Hi guys! I'm sorry I'm offline for a while. So yes I am from Australia and I have to deal with more overly-priced hardware than those in US or Canada but I am not thinking about purchasing outside of the country for shipping and warranty issues.

So by the looks of things here, I think that I haev to consider waiting for that Haswell. Mind you guys, as I have said in my 1st post, this is my 1st build and I am reading a lot lately. Unfortunately, I am not that well-equipped with knowledge about CPUs. I could get into any sort of conversation when it comes to GPU on the other hand. Well I guess I might just wait for Haswell. Thank you.
