Honestly I would just go with NameCheap.com web hosting as they are offering 5GB/250GB for $39.95 per year + domain registration.

Good luck

I went to GoDaddy for domain ( low price & just happened to start there) & HostPC for hosting ( low price, good service & good reviews here).

That's a good combination. Please remember to keep frequent backups as that is your responsibility.

I have been with HostPC for a few of their moves & they never lost anything. That said, I will back up right now. Thanks for the reminder.

I just registered a domain with Namecheap. It's between their hosting and Hostnine - what do you do hotshot...what do you do?

Cheap for the time being ~$10/mo or so? I could do Gatorhost for that money but namecheap is convenient and hostnine is $3.95/mo.

And you're so lovable.

Namecheap ftw. I have a domain with them, and an old one with Godaddy. I haven't transferred it yet because the GD interface bombards me with ads, and I've just given up.

thanks Rossman,

I just registered a domain with namecheap, but I'm using url forwarding instead of a hosting plan.

what's the deal with hosting companies such as hostmonster that provide ungodly amounts of space and transfers for like $6/mo? What am I missing?

overselling - they give you ridiculous amount of space/bandwidth which you'll never use. If someone did happen to use up to what they're offering, everyone else on the server suffers. So, they're reeling you in with the specs but in reality, will you use 1tb of space?

Thanks for turning me onto NameCheap! I am going to move my domains there! But, I have a few questions:

Has anyone transferred domains from Network Solutions to NameCheap? Is it painless?

Can I create one account with NameCheap and have all my domains under it? It would be so nice to manage all my domains from one screen, and not have to remember logins and passwords for all of my domains... which is what I do now for several domains and several registrars.

Thanks!

Well duh... Namecheap has the RossMAN seal of approval, how could one go wrong there?

I went with namecheap based on RossMAN's suggestion, and have been very pleased. I now have a number of domains registered through there. I like the whois protection, too bad it's only for 1 year at a time.

Is anything ever easy with Network Solutions?

I recently just switched from Namecheap to Godaddy. The deciding factor was that I can consolidate renewal dates. I would NEVER use either of them for hosting though.
