I have saved some funds to get a DVD burner. I have used Lite-On CD/RW and DVD-ROM drives exclusively in the past, but read a few reviews of the Lite-On SOHW-832S DVD-RW drive saying that the -R performance is bad and can cause frequent coasters. The review went on to say that a firmware upgrade could possibly fix the problems.
Another drive I've been looking at is the NEC ND-2510A, but dont know much about NEC products although the 2510 looks good from the reviews I've read.
newegg.com has the retail boxed Lite-On for $103.50 and a OEM version of the NEC for $84.99
Also they have Legacy brand 50 pack of DVD-R for $19.99 I was planning to try since I dont have alot of $$.
Anyways was just wondering which drive you think would be the better choice?
thanks
