I like the left.

If you do not get me the one of the left, I'm not going to marry you!

What is Asscher?

I like the right better, but that's because I don't like the look of channel-set stones.

Joseph Asscher was an eminent diamond cutter who cut the 3,106 carat Cullinan diamond. Asscher worked in Amsterdam. In 1902, his company, the Asscher Diamond Co., developed and patented the Asscher cut, a squarish step cut with an almost octagonal outline. This new cut enhanced the fire and light of the stone; it had a small table, a high crown, wide step facets, a deep pavilion and square culet. This cut became very popular in Art Deco jewelry and was a forerunner of the emerald cut. Recently, the Royal Asscher Diamond Co. resumed production of the original Asscher cut diamonds.

Left, and congradulations buddy! Just better looks, the one on the right has the stones and then just ends into the ring, the one on the left, flows from the stones to the ring.

Looks kinda like a princess cut with bevelled corners? They company must have started using this cut again because of the rising popularity of princess cuts.

FWIW, mine is like the one on the right, but picture a .12ct stone on either side of the .25 cts.\

Pic for reference.

Photographing a diamond is a fun challenge. You have a very thin window where the stone is either damn near invisible, or the glare obliterates the whole shot.

I prefer the round cuts, but if you're going square... I don't think solitaire is doing it justice... it needs some friends... and I see that setting with the sidestones pretty often.

Left is nicer looking, but the right looks like it is more $$$.

1/2 carat one stone good quality is more $$$ than 1 carat in numerous stones.
Do you know the carat weights?
